Property Search - Your Most Annoying Painpoint or Top 2 Wishlist on Feature You Could Do on Domain/Real Estate

This is for property investors or buyers. I was curious if there are many common pain points or need for some tools.

My annoyance was lots of properties with no asking price and also not disclosing sale price. Wish there was that filter to exclude those automatically on domain/real estate.

Just curious based on experience if there are other wish list for people searching properties? I know there are fancy paid tools like RPData, etc where you can get it.

There are browser extensions you can get that will show the price range that the house has been listed within, and also a "guess" price based on data available from different places.

    • Oh really. Do you know the name? That would be amazing

      • There are a few, they work because even though there is no listed price there is a figure in the metadata to make it appear in peoples searched based on their upper/lower price limits.
Examples are Price Daddy, Property Seeker, Homer and RealPrice

        • Be aware that this price will usually undercut the expected price a bit to make it appear on people's searches where the REA hopes to have them overspend their upper limit.

        • Thanks

        • Anyone you recommend between these ones to try first?

          • @bin555: you sort of have to have a go at each and see which suits best as local markets have different ways of doing things that may or may not reflect well in the extension.

          • @bin555: I use Property Mate (Chrome Extension) which I found here as the developer posted it.
Shows you what the agent has selected as the price bracket to send out emails, marketing etc and also shows a Domain estimate, and you can just turn it on/off as its an extension.

  • No guide price.

    Photoshopped photos.

Having to contact agents to get copy of contract, putting you on their spam lists.

The NBN availability browser add-ons already exist and quite useful.

    • Yeah. Nowadays you don't even get response from most of them

  • Why does the price estimate disappear when the property is listed for sale?

Wish there was a BS filter on RE listings.
Trouble is, there’d be nothing left to browse

Fake photos. Even a price guide is useless if I can't tell if the kitchen and bathroom need a complete renovation or not.

  • Cant search by house style or era.

Can do it overseas. Not here. Super annoying 😑

  • Lying REAs indicating that a property has 3 bathrooms when its actually 2 bathrooms and a powder room.

  • the altered and photoshopped photos have to be the worst painpoint

using wide angle lenses, brightened photos

the real estate industry is dreadful as a whole

  • When I was a kid houses were advertised with prices, even auctions has a price guide.

What's the point of a price guide if it has no requirement to be in line with the reserve

15 photos and 13 of them are location shots of the schools and train station and drone shots of the suburb.

  • My annoyance was lots of properties with no asking price and also not disclosing sale price

Start shopping in VIC, this is required…. But like all things realestate, they are mostly lies.

I find the the biggest annoyances is REA's not having a floorplan pic, and reusing old photos. This seems to be more common with regional REA's than in major cities.
