Normally I claim these from desktop but the links are throwing errors about not being compatible with my device.
I installed a user-agent switcher plugin for Firefox and then impersonated an Android phone and iPhone to be able to check out the respective links, and was able to successfully claim these.

I think the "free" part of Polytopia is that all of the standard tribes are unlocked (so you get more than four)

It looks like it is not really available on iOS in Australia. To launch the game requires installing the Epic Games Store on iPhone.
The Epic Games Store on iPhone is only available for European Union customers.

How can I install the iOS version? When I try to change store on my device it says I need to remove all my apple credit first. Is there any other way?
You can't right now, Australian iOS devices don't have the third party store support that EU owners do. You need to just claim the game now and hope Australia pass some similar legislation to allow third party stores on iOS.
I hope epic does an apple on Nintendo. The big N would be quivering in their boots after epic took on apple and won..
I kept having errors doing the iOS checkout as I'd already brought one of the games, the solution is to have iOS checkout each game separately.
