I'm pretty sure this is a historical low.
Insert usual Ubisoft store / launcher grumbles.

Its quite lovely. You can tweak the gameplay quite a lot to your liking. If you like following the glowing objective marker you can do that. If you want no objective marker and only clues you can do that too. If you want easy, no worries. If you want one hit kill brutality mode thats there too.
Oh and the graphics/ surround sound weather effects are A+ if you have the setup to show it off.
is this on steam? on sale too?
Starwars outlaws and avatar will be $45 together (minus 20% if you have enough ubisoft points)
I'm actually upset about this, bought Outlaws for $72 on Steam and 2 weeks later it was $50. Lesson learnt though, never buy games close to launch.
Its def best to hold out if possible. Especially with so many unfinished games on release.
Outlaws has already been put in the rubbish bin by Ubisoft, it's a dud so they are not putting much effort into updates. Would refund if I could.
@GardenGnome: Don't really agree with this - they updated it a ton over the first 6 months and improved loads of little aspects that people didn't like. It's a better game now then when launched but if you hated it, you probably wouldn't love it.
It'll be worth it once it hits below $10.
It's worth it at $35 but you can wait until the next 3 assassins creed games come out and shadows finally drops to $10
wait until the next 3 assassins creed games come out
So about 3 weeks? Feels like there's a new one every week these days.
Origins to Mirage are all on GamePass these days too. I just subscribe to that for a month when I have a bit of free time and can knock over a game or two.
Its a good game
Thanks, had been waiting for a good price on it.
Really enjoyed this one. It's very much an Assassin's Creed game with all the pros and cons you get from every other AC game, but still an excellent game.
no dice - have to wait for $5 bin clearance
6.5/10, if anyone wants to read my review that is far too long here:
i really, really., really wanted to like/LOVE this game. i totally ignored all the hate online because i had faith in the game. and i was right to do this because when i first started this game.. i was absolutely invested in it all
there is an amazing prologue that sets up a crazy revenge story.. your dad killed in your arms of you and you, the child, crying angrily and swearing to get revenge .. so anime and tuff
but then the story just .. it just kinda falls off.. it feels like you're doing the same thing again.. and again.. and again.. and again.. unfortunately without exaggeration.. i think about halfway through the story i totally clocked out. i didn't care anymore, the story went south and they didn't mention the plotline of what was happening in the real world where these memories were being simulated.. i really thought that would be more important. in general, the non-linearity disconnected me from the story
besides the story, the game is actually SO beautiful, the environments are so bloody colourful and vibrant and ALIVE. the sound and visuals of the swaying of the trees… the wind the leaves falling and running with the wind.. genuinely probably the prettiest game i have ever played. the environment changing system was really cool, seeing all the snow pile up and also seeing the trees get their colour back as the seasons shift.. i loved that
armour design and such was also so cool, so much variety for changing the appearance of yourself and your weapons! the game also has transmog so you don't have to use the ugly ass armour just because it has better stats. but on the topic of aesthetics, the facial animations were really weird. not 'buggy' but just weird.. maybe it's because i played the silent hill 2 remake recently? but in general it didn't look like it was made for a 2025 AAA game..
the combat is okay.. just so repetitive. even with such a fun variety of weapons across naoe and yasuke it gets really boring.. dodge/parry then posture attack.. repeat no matter what weapon you use.. and also enemy attacks barely have any variety, even across bosses. its the same thing again and again .. i still do appreciate the variety of weapons included though
on the topic of the characters, naoe is super fun and satisfying to play, swift and fast and quiet.. the real assassins creed character. i'm not upset that yasuke is totally different, when you first switch to him you see just how STRONG he is throwing everyone around and i really loved that contrast. i appreciate how the game would let you choose to continue story quests as naoe or yasuke, leaving you the choice of preference.
the music.. idk who ubisoft hires for music for their games but its always so ass man.. they get some feudal japanese music that plays most of the time and when you get into a fight it gets remixed into some actual garbage trap remix that literally makes me giggle everytime it happens because of how bad it is.. i wish more games cared about how influential their soundtracks can be to their games (see clair obscur recently!!!!!)
as for bugs, YES the game did contain some bugs but rarely were they ever game breaking. it overall felt polished so i didn't mind when the lady bleeding out on the floor would randomly stand up and look around then lay down and start dying again .. using the horse was also okay but wasn't totally smooth.. but i appreciate you could use it across most terrain (including to swim over water thank u so much ubisoft)
the game ran fine on my computer (id say average 120fps on 1440p high with a 4070ti) but mainly due to frame generation capabilities
overall 6.5/10 i would recommend playing if the game is on sale! at full price.. you might be disappointed
Agree with your review. After a few hours into the story, I got bored.
Anyone bought many ubi games for use on the steam deck? How does the launcher go? Better off buying on steam, or not a big deal either way?
I'm wondering the same, from experience, better just waiting for good sale on Steam.
AFAIK you need the launcher even if you get it from steam anyway
I'm in the same boat, but considering just buying this and streaming from my PC to the deck. It looks better that way anyways. :)
I've got AC Odyssey set up from Ubi store on my deck, and it was a little tedious to set up (took me 15-30 mins to get it working), but once it's going its honestly not that different to playing from Steam store directly. I have had occasional internet disconnects playing this way, but it doesn't affect gameplay (you just get a notification in-game).
Depends if you value time or money more, basically.
I bought it on Steam, playing it on Steam Deck - from the last sale.
You will still need to install the Ubisoft Launcher, even if on Steam. It works no problem, launching takes a few moments more but not a big deal. Once it launches and starts - there isn't anymore required Ubisoft interaction in the game.
I will mention, it took a little effort to 'log in' to Ubisoft account on the Deck, I had issues 'typing' and 'inputting' with the inbuilt keyboard and the tiny screen, but I think if you connected it to a monitor and/or had an external keyboard, it'll be more seemless.
Happy to help answer questions about Shadows on Steam Deck.
I just purchased the game via their website and then when i try to download it from the app the game is not showing up. i refreshed the website now it says you have never ordered. So weird! i don't see any transection went through via paypal tho that's comforting
Will buy on that price if Steam.
Would be ideal but unfortunately it doesn't happen
Given how hundreds of thousands of people felt Ubisoft went too far in butchering Japanese history, that there are some mods to correct it. Still waiting for Ubisoft to include black muhammad, black Israelis, transgender Nazis etc.
hahahah I would buy this DLC instantly.
Waiting for an African based creed where the MC is an Asian with some sick Kung Fu moves. and the way you level up is via cultivation.
Level 1 - 10: ping pong level
Level 11 - 20: Chin Chong levelAnd you will have to rescue some jade beauty from another warring tribes and before each fight, you'll be screaming: are you courting death!!!
Waiting for the DLC to be included aka the gold edition of AC: Shadows
But Ultimate edition includes the dlc?
At the moment the DLC hasnt released yet for them to make a gold edition but i believe the DLC comes out this week.
So that gives them time to make a gold or ultimate edition. Plus the offer doesnt expire till October 2nd 2025.
My bad, I have the deluxe edition but thought I had the ultimate edition
Can you stack codes with Ubisoft?
I attempted to stack my 20% Ubisoft points and it didnt work and stole the points without me buying anything
I don't believe it stacks with the 20% points discount, at the very least. (The modal to apply goes away when you apply a promo code)
I wonder what would happen if you apply the 20% point discount first (ie. "redeem" that first) - would the "Apply promo code…" button then disappear?
I did this and it kept my points even know i didnt checkout
Correct. I tried, unfortunately you can only use one discount. But the AUTUMN discount is better than the 20% off.
Its ubisoft the launcher sucks
good price, not a bad game either
