  • I usually get Fab powder 7kg from Bigw for $26.
    Is this better quality?

    • +1

Omo is far superior than fab .

      • -2

What if you add 1-2kg sard power in the 7kg fab, would that not make it better while still being cheaper?

        • Seems like a waste of money & time to me when the detergent manufacturers spend millions on lab tests etc .

@spock: And probably double that amount again on marketing.

@spock: "spend millions on lab tests etc" that would surprise me, very much

    • It's complicated tbh.

My personal experience over the years and can be taken with a grain of salt is for day to day washing normal dirt grit, grime etc most detergents perform almost as good for general washes except with the caveat of fragrance tolerance and also a minimum wash time of 45 mins or more and of course min temp of 30deg at least.

When you get into stains and mud, grass stains, red wine, blood etc that’s when the heft is needed and that’s where you see the difference with the Omo’s Biozet brands etc.

So you have to judge your own level of wash required and choose the right one. Personally I mix and match between generic wash. Dirty wash and sanitation wash (bed linen, etc) and then choose the detergent cheap and pricey and or stain spray or disinfectant add on depending on the load.

Being in the whitegoods industry for 20+ years, one thing is very clear is that you need only 50/60 of dosage recommended of detergent by the manufacturers as they want you to use more so you buy more! 😊.

Most washers in the last 5-7 years with energy and water rating of 4.5 star and more use minimal water being high efficiency washers and thus if you overuse detergent you end up with all sorts of streaks and powder marks and skin allergies!. So do your own tests and find the best balance.
