If you go for the 14.2" model, you can get an M4 instead of an M2… I'd seriously consider that, same price isn't it (same specs too)?
Not a real pro though - pretty sure the entry level m4's don't have the pro chip?
The m2 pro chip better in multi core work, but the m4 entry chip is superior in single core activity, but operating system updates will be two years behind if keeping it long term.
The 14" model is the pro, the 13" is the air.

M2 in the bargain is pro chip.
Standard M4 chip is better than M2 Pro chip in single core but not in multi core.

@maverickjohn: Yep that's why I mentioned the M2 being also standard. I think he was comparing them both thinking they were both standard.
Differences between CPU single/multicore between M4 and M2 Pro seem to be pretty marginal, M4 is around ~10% better in single, M2 Pro around 10% better in multi. Much more interesting to compare GPU and NPUs. GPU on M2 Pro seems to be ~40% better, but NPU on M4 is ~60% better.
M4 is also newer (so more support) and more power efficient (20W) compared to M2 Pro (40W).
