Big Ryobi fan here (and owner), this kit is trash if you have any lawn/garden great than a small patch.
Best to go brushless for lawn in a mower, and depending on size for an 18v or 36v. This line trimmer light as a feather (not good for control) and awkward to hold/use. Blower is a bargain basement spec potentially the best item in this kit.

Agreed with DannyBoy. Currently own a 36V brushless and I think it’s great for maintenance mows - that is, if you keep on top of the lawn every two weeks in summer it’s fantastic.

I recently moved and had clover outbreak I had to deal with. Let’s say the mower wasn’t up the task, but we powered on.

I wouldn’t get this if you’ve got a decent yard, but it’s great for small 2x2m patios. Skip,

    • yeah thanks

was thinking of getting this kit for a gift

they have a small yard… like we talking like 300m2 block..

but it's kikuyu so get's pretty thick in 2 weeks.

    • Every brand has a story, not just ozito …

I had a kit for about 5 years and it did the job. Most inner city patches of grass it will be fine. You just can't let it get too thick otherwise it will bog down. The line trimmer is a single string but it did fine for the lawns I used it on. At a guess the lawn I used it on was about 100sqm + about 10m of nature strip out the front. Could whipper snip + mow the entire lot on the batteries. The blower does the job too for cleaning up the driveway, footpath, etc.

So while it is inadequate for larger blocks I wouldn't say the kit is trash. It's great value for a very common use case.

After all the advertising, the OnePass "Bonanza" seems to be a flop. Bunnings has an Airfryer on special? sigh

I have this combo from a previous deal, one thing to note for prospective buyers: When one of the tools breakdown (it likely will), bunnings will ask you to present all items in the combo before they give you a replacement.

    • +2

      that's a big turn off

    • +5

That's illegal btw and u should just stand ur ground

ACCC is pretty clear, you only need to return the faulty product itself.

      *some
      *may

*entirely unnecessary (as per previous post, stand ground, freshen your warranty terms and ACL prior to visiting - but ensure you have proof of purchase too because if you play hard and hast by the rules so will they.

Had that query on a Ryobi kit a few years ago, I simply told them I no longer have the other tools. They didn't push back and gave me a replace skin of the exact item

  • Bought this Combo 7 year ago at the same price. Still working perfectly

    • Back to the future? Marty?

Good deal considering the twin pack of batteries alone sell for $199 at bunnings..

  • Question

anyone own one of these…can it handle Kikuyu

    Was thinking for a gift

    • How large is the area it's cutting? You could always start on a higher cut level and make a few passes if it's a real small section of grass.

      • i mean i think at MOST their entire blocks like 330m2

it's mainly a small backyard..grass down side and the front.

        it's not a massive block..

  • Been using this kit just to cut my natures strip

If you value your time by say 10 dollars per hour even, and you expect to operate these for over 50 hours in the next 2 years, do your self a favour and buy the 36V range and spend 500 extra over these items.

    These are trash.

If you have buffalo grass like me, then even on a hot summers day when the grass is dry, this lawn mower will struggle. I ended up returning it. YMMV.

  • +2

18v Vs lawn, my money's on the lawn

  • Someone returned their set to bunnings because it couldn't cut through buffalo grass effectively. The set was used once and reduced down to $99. At that price i couldn't resist. I have 300sqm of buffalo grass and it cuts fine. Yes the edge trimmer is annoying to hold and use (very awkward). I also feel that the blower is not super powerful. But the batteries alone are worth more than $99 when i bought it so it's a bargain for me.

36v dewalt lawn kit for $699 - any good? Seems like a great deal.

Sydney and total tools are same price.

      • Thanks for your comment, bought the kit from Total Tools.

    • Dewalt generally make good gear. For $499, bunnings have a 36V mower thats only 17Kg so much easier to push. Comes complete with the battery and charger so it's basically the full kit. This Dewalt says its 30Kg, thats a fair weight to push. Your choice but I'd go the Ryobi.

      • the $499 Ryobi comes with just Battery and Mower, no line trimmer or blower. Where as the Dewalt Lawn Kit comes with a Blower and Trimmer for *free* for $699.

Also if you have any Ultimate Gift Card from previous deals laying around, it's effectively another 10% off.

        • Ow missed out on the trimmer, only comes with blower for the redemption

          • @gutenmuach: total tools still have the deal.

699 for mower and trimmer, then online redemption for blower

  • Bunnings website says delivery is available but when I go to cart it says out of stock. Anyone else finding the same problem?
