  • I'm aware double adaptors are seen as dangerous, does the surge protector mitigate the risks of them?

    • +3

Any extension beyond a single plug into a single out, is potentially dangerous.
This does nothing additional to mitigate danger aside from being fireproof and surge protected.

  • Seems cheap, but can't see what the normal price is (either from bunnings or other retailers). Is this a deal, or just cheap?

      • Thx mate, I haven't used pricehipster before… I guess I will surrender my ozb membership (or remember to try it in future!)

        • +1

I believe (grain of salt worthy), it was one of the early front runners in the Aus price tracking space. Not sure what fell it off the wagon, possibly the horrendous website, but definitely rarely see it mentioned any more!

This is what would be called a "promo" line in Bunnings. ie, it's not part of the core range, so it has no regular price. And it would be a once off drop for Bunnings, so other retailers don't sell it either. Cordtech has a lot of promo lines in Bunnings. They're owned by Jackson now, but seem to be the more budget option of the 2.

      • But is does…

        • This price history starts 9th August. It's a promo line.

@ASR-Briggs: Yet I said nothing to the contrary. It has a base price, it is now cheaper, it is an Oz bargain.

            • @parad0x: Okie dokie.

              • @ASR-Briggs: How recent was the Jackson acquisition? I feel like Jackson went from being that budget brand, to entering the mod-range segment all of a sudden without any apparent change in production - guessing this may have been the catalyst?

    • So you're saying if something is available cheaply, it disqualifies from also being a deal? Isn't getting something cheaper simply a side effect of value for money - the whole premise behind constitution of a deal, whether cheap by way of reduced price item or new to market item @ cheaper than competing offerings?

Make me see wine separation whithoit falling into the not cheap but expensive deals scale, which is a matter of perspective and means so a deal regardless of whether you are applicable

  • How is the wattage distributed across the ports?

    • It reads as, lists as, and displays as 30w from each A & C ports. For PD3O when two ports are present, 15w each.
This is all assuming the marketing information is accurate, but this is how it certainly appears.

  • I know it’s probably fine but this absolutely looks like it would set on fire.

    • At least the MOV's are fire proof… Be sure to check any charred house remains for a few intact varistors, should be good for warranty if they're damaged!

  • Ordered 2, paid for.
Then got an out of stock message, with refund pending.
