30L FermZilla All Rounder Complete Pressure Brewing Kit $69.95 + Delivery ($0 VIC C&C) @ Kegland

140

KegLand have a sale on their 30L plastic Fermzilla fermenter.

A good starter for a beginner home brewer, a step up from the standard plastic bucket with tap.

Pressure fermenting somewhat reduces the need for temperature control and also allows for oxygen free transfer to a keg.

Pair the fermenter with one of the dispensing taps and it is possible to dispense your brew straight out of the Fermzilla.

You could fill this up with something like Coopers/Woolworths Extract home brew can, or a fresh wort kit from a homebrew store.

  • Man I've been wanting to upgrade to pressure fermenting for ages now, I've just sorta stuck with my original Coopers FV from the starter kit. I've got a temp controlled fridge for the FV and a kegerator so feel like this is the best place I could spend my money if wanting to make my brews taste a bit better? There's something about the flavour & carbonation I've just never quite been able get right.

Also cuts down on C02 usage and time to be drinkable as you can just flick the fridge to cold crash mode and top it up with some c02 & drink the beer straight from the fermenter.

      • I already do that but then still transfer over to a keg after a couple of days. It's just a terrible open transfer.

Will pressure brewing make any tangible difference to flavour?

        • I've only every fermented in one of these. But I would have to think it will make a difference.
Pressure transfer will help eliminate the chance of oxidation of your beers.

    • In my opinion if you already have a temp controlled FV then the pressure fermenting is a waste of money.

    hmmm I don't need this…

  • Looking in to this. Currently been using the basic Coopers kit for the past 2 years (was bottling a brew when this came through).

Mate if you're still keen on the hobby 2 years later, I absolutely must recommend making the move to kegs. It's just so much better in every way.

  • Can you ferment and dispense without the need for a CO2 canister?

    • Short answer, yes.

No. After the first few litres the beer will lose carbonation. The more you drink the flatter the beer will get.

      • Interesting, was thinking of just chucking in some carb drops and seal it back up

        • Its like opening a beer bottle which was carbed, pouring out half and closing it up again. After a day or two the rest of the beer will be almost flat. Thats why you have a pressure regulator. It will keep topping up the co2 levels to keep it at the right level of carbonation.

  • ~$98 with postage for me in Sydney.

  • That's a good deal, but just in case it helps anyone, I get 50l kegs and cut a hold for a Corny keg lid.

Then just get a lid from kegland with a floating dip tube, and a bolt on gas poppet. Gotta drill a hole.

I ferment and serve from them. Dead easy.

    Only use legal kegs kids!!
