Isn't uber known for price jacking if you have gift card balance?

Been using mixed payment methods and never noticed it. Either a myth or they kinda hide it smart.

      • I haven't tested it myself but there have been a few reports suggesting so long as you have a positive credit balance you will have a higher price (irrespective of what payment you choose). They tested with another account without a balance side by side.

Are you saying you've tested this and it's false? If so then maybe it's just a myth

        • woah, where have you heard of this before?

          • @Uncle Roger: It's on reddit and some (albeit small news websites have asked uber about it and they deny it). As I say I haven't tested it myself but maybe we should test it amongst the ozb community :)

    • This is the first I've heard as well… would like to hear more confirmation if it's true!

    • If true, you can always work around this by changing your payment method for all your orders afterwards

Beware of this offer if you are purchasing the cards for yourself.

I bought the $100 one for $90. It applies as $100 but after a few hours or days it adjusted back to $90.

I kept looking at my history to find out where that $90 card came from and then I realised it was the one I bought for myself through the platform.

I spend anywhere from $1000-$2000 a month on Uber, so this was just chump change I'll consider a minor loss; but for casual users this might be something important to be aware of. Let me know if anyone else has had this issue too.
