Can anyone give a firsthand review of this backpack at all? Pros and cons?

      Scroll down on the page.
and stop eating tacos 4 brekkie

        Waaaah!

Fair enough. They all seemed like such glowing reviews and my internal negative bias couldn't take it. I needed that 3 star review in a sea of 5 stars to give it a bit of realism. Anyway, I won't stop eating tacos 4 brekkie.

        • -1

          I'm the same.

I need to know why Svetlana from Egypt has an issue with her bag specifically, or why she reduced stars due to the packaging being difficult to open!

    • standout pro imo: clamshell style design - nothing worse than having to dig around when you want to find something quick.

i personally prefer duffle style for carry on though.

that's because you can carry more twinkies on board

I bought it and sent it back, the tomtoc was more comfortable

      • What!? Until I read your comment I thought this was a tomtoc deal. Scrolled back up and it never was!

        • My firsthand review is it is uncomfortable and have suggested an alternative :|

      • Is this the popular tomtoc $99 deal?

    • Not this model but the 38L one

Been loving it so far - heaps of room and really good as a weekender ( + 15" laptop )

If anything I wish they have a more secure water bottle side pockets, I carry a 1L water bottle for trips and it's almost just a little too big and I end up having to constantly check whether it's still there or not.

Looking at photos, I think this one might have the same issue.
Not a deal breaker, but definitely a possible improvement for the next iteration.

    • I carried a small form factor PC in this backpack when moving to Japan and moving back, it dealt with the weight well and the boxy shape didnt really misshape it too much. I've used it for general traveling too, can fit alot of clothes when army rolled. its abit unstructured for daily backpacking use if you arent filling it up though I think.

  • Looks great! Though I would love to know what it weighs. You don't want 3kg's of your 7kg carry on to be…bag.

    • +1

surprisingly hard to find - i saw on an expired ebay listing 1.12kg… but this could be wrong too.

      • Thanks for looking, I couldn't find anything either. 1.12kgs would be nice! That's super light.

      • This is about right from memory when I weighed mine

    • +2

Item weight is noted as 1.12 kg in the Measurements accordion under "Product information"

  • +7

Does it come with a TPS report?

    • +2

      And a red stapler?

    • +3

Pieces of flair. But just the minimum.

    • +1

      Nah, the printer was broken.

    • +2

      Just a moment!

    • Is This Good for the COMPANY?

"You don't need a million dollars to do nothin'. Take a look at my cousin, he's broke, don't do s###."

      • What would you do if you had a million dollars?

  • Got one recently. Only used mine once. So far so good and quite comfortable on your back.

I've got 2 of these bags, 20L version of the same and another one of their different lineups. All of them are fantastic bags, great quality, comfortable and loads of space in them. Highly recommended. Please note that these look too large for cabin (even though they technically should fit the dimensions). What happens is that they're very spacious and you end up putting many stuff in them, which will eventually become too heavy for cabin allocation (even though dimension-wise they're still okay). What this means is that if flight attendants or anyone at the ticket counters see them, they'd probably ask you to weigh them, in which case you get caught (well we got caught.. LOL) That's not an issue of the bags themselves, we just have to be mindful to not load them too much if the airline is picky about the weight.

    • Good point, you want a bag that looks small but is in fact very roomy.

      • If there's such thing

        • I think any older soft fabric bag, as long as it's not stuffed looks smaller, but who knows. I usually just show up late for my plane and they'll rush me on board and not weigh me.

    • That's a good point. I'm in the market for a laptop bag for overseas travel. Factoring in the weight of laptop and gadgets (2kg) I'll only have 5-8kg worth of clothing minus bag weight(s) depending on whether it's 7kg or 10kg limit. I'm guessing a 30L bag volume should be enough. The Osprey 26+6 (0.84 kg) is on the short-list which I can put my laptop in and use as a personal item and then as a daypack while I'm there. A 35L duffel such as https://www.amazon.com.au/Flightmode-Bag-Lightweight-Duffel-… I can put clothing in and store in the overhead. (235g)

Don't forget though, you can use this 42L bag as a check in luggage as well (which we ended up doing couple of occasions) and they could perfectly handle the rough handling going through the belt and operators. Also there are occassions where you need to pack all in a single bag regardless of the weight (something we also came across). There won't be a massive weight difference of the bags alone between 42L and 30L. So by going with 30L one, you are only limiting your options (you can only use it as a carry on, nothing else). 42L bag is a lot more versatile option, you just have to be mindful of the weight if you use it as a carry on. For example, when we fly (depart) we will have perfect 8 kg weights in all four, then on our rerun, due to shopping and what not, we will usually end up having more weight. What we do is, either try to sneak in with carry on, or worse case put only one of the four bags with many stuff in it, make it a check in luggage and use the other three still as carry on so we only end up paying for one check in luggage.

I'm going light partially as an one-bag experiment, but may come back heavy. If so, I'll definitely take your advice and get something to withstand the abuse of baggage handlers. Thanks again!

Good backpack, but not really a discount per se. This backpack has been sitting at this price for a good 3 to 4 months, and the coupons always gets renewed after they expire.

  • +3

Wouldn't it be better to take your laptop and accessories in a seperate bag? In my experience most airlines allow a carry on + laptop.

I usually have more than 7kg in my laptop bag. I carry a macbook, a heavy power bank, mouse, charger docking/hub.

  • +2

used it for a month of travels in latin america, lots of room but does look funny, I would go for the caribee now

  • looks like the current coupon code has been exhausted.

keep an eye out for a new one to pop up if you're still interested.

  • Decent price for 42L
