I was comparing a few and this looks to me Allianz (via Westpac) coverage is broader and also cheaper for my circumstance.

      • maybe compare with nrma as per below user

Haven't checked this one but the previous GC offer with Newcastle Permanent I remember it was still cheaper for me to go with Allianz direct.

  • Check the T&Cs on this one.

Got a feeling the $150 isn't paid out for a long time, and…. maybe you need a Westpac savings account. Can't remember exactly.

I ended up going with Newcastle Permanent, Southern Cross etc.

    • Newcastle Permanent, Southern Cross
thhose are offering landlord insurance? i had with Terri because they are always advertising on tv

Home & contents insurance was $1000 more expensive than NRMA, no thanks!

    • guess how do they get the $150 from?

    • My Allianz insurance via Westpac, was a $1,000 cheaper with NRMA and I have four other polices with NRMA

  • How long do you need to stay to get the giftcard.

    • after cooling off for sure

Premium went up $700 more after I. Used promotion code 😄

    • This is not possible. Promo code does not affect premium

  • I have multiple policies with them and they were the cheapest for me. Can pay monthly with no extra cost.

  • Just google $150 gift card Allianz
Other small banks also offer the same
Weirdly for me, Westpac quote through Allianz was cheaper than Southern cross or others

Sometimes wonder what logic do they use. Or it's just a random dip

thanks OP, signed up. next step, find a house.

  • Read terms!
Has to be malicious damage, and will usually only cover you from lack of rent once the house is habitable again.

    • so they will cover the rent if i cannot find tenant? how is that work?

    • What do you mean? The insurance covers any weather events and etc. Loss of rent kicks in the moment the house is inhabitable. Not the other way round

      Am I misunderstanding your comment here…? 🤔

      • im interested too @Headless

      • I had a claim that the insurance company accepted, but i could only claim on malicious damage in the house, garbage collection but not removal, and would only cover me from the time the house was ready for renting.
        Was barely worth the money

        • the loss of rent cover should take place from the day the event happened which make it inhabitable. The coverage is such that your losses of rent income is payable until the day the building is reinstated and ready for renting.

Did you ask the Insurer to explain, or make a complain?

          • @b0b0: not covered in the terms, had to also get police involved and change all the locks, tried, but they refused

  • Beware, voracious non-payers - will go to extraordinary lengths to deny legitimate claims. Read reviews

    • Allianz ? wow i thought they are big

    • YMMV but all other insurers do also deny claim not just Allianz.

You will have to read the PDS clearly to understand what's covered and what's not…

I'd say the bigger brands like NRMA, AAMI and Allianz do a slightly better job in making things clear though.

    • I have mainly had good experiences with claims. The bar is low with insurers, but I would trust Allianz more than most. Note, again, the bar is low.

  • AAMI

  • T&Cs of the promotion nowhere to be found.
However quote is coming up for me ~$200 cheaper than other Allianz resellers (Police bank etc), so I'll give it a try. Looking at Police bank T&Cs, you need your policy to start inside promotion period, so I expect the same condition to be applied here as well.

    • You may also want to compare with Allianz direct, not sure if you will get a similar or cheaper price (even without a giftcard)

      • It's more expensive with Allianz directly as well, so Westpac is cheapest option for me.

        • I have Allianz directly cheaper. Need to compare the coverage but glad that this is useful to you

  • OP please add an important terms that "Contents-only policy of any kind are excluded from this offer". I can't find the terms for this particular Westpac offer, but found similar T&C from 2024, and seems to be the norm for all $150 gift card offers via Greater Bank, Great Southern Bank, Newcastle Permanent, etc.

This means that if anyone has an apartment or townhouse looking for a landlord cover, you are not eligible for this offer (because your building insurance is covered under Strata)

  • Any idea if I already have month to month policy through Westpac, Can I cancel and apply this? I tried the old Ts and Cs - https://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/insurance/offer-… and nothing around ineligible if having a policy before.

    Thanks

      Msg westpac for clarity!

Thanks. Contacted them on Facebook. And looks like I am eligible.

Did a quote and cheaper than my current plus $150.

  • called allianz a few weeks ago and the staff mentioned it would be a preezee smart GC

  • For those who has signed up, do you receive confirmation that the gift card is included in the quote? Is there stated somewhere that the voucher code was used?

    • Did you put the code in the promotion code section when you got a quote?

      • I did but there’s no documentation of the gift card in the email. Just wondering if I’m meant to get it written somewhere. Would be good in the event the gift card does not arrive..

        • +1

I suggest you take the screenshot of the current promo and reminder in case you forget. I think 6 weeks or 8 weeks something like that.

          • @djsydney: Anything like this, I take frequent screenshots, and retain them until whatever benefit is paid/used.
            Zero trust policy.

For anyone who is looking for the terms and conditions - https://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/insurance/home-i…

And as per my question, I can cancel and apply this to be eligible.

    • reading the terms, seems like if I cancel my existing allianz policy, I am eligible again. would this be ur understanding

      • That is correct.

  • if I have allianz via great southern bank. can I cancel and re-do and get this bonus

  • Thanks OP, I just signed up using this. They were already significantly cheaper than RACV and CBA for me (>$1000). Great deal! I have a Westpac account but no active products, fingers crossed I still can get the eGift Card.

Looks like the offer is back again. No promo code required this time.
