Does iOS 26 Call Screening Require Visual Voicemail (Woolworths Mobile) ?

I'm with Woolies mobile and one of the drawbacks is that visual voicemail doesn't work.

I've updated to iOS 26 and was pretty keen to use the new call screening feature. I enabled it and got my first spam caller. The phone just rang like normal. It's supposed to answer it, ask them who they are and why they're calling, then give you text before it actually rings.

Since call screening and visual voicemail seem closely related, I'm wondering if call screening requires visual voicemail. Does anyone know if it does? Or has anyone successfully gotten call screening working via Woolworths Mobile? I can't find anything via Google.

Might be finally time to move to Boost.

I tried screen calling on the iOS beta and it was okay, sometimes worked, but other times it didn't do a very good job. People thought they were leaving a Voicemail.

I don't believe it is Telco related, it is all controlled through the device.

Ok I had a friend turn caller ID off and call me, it worked as expected.

Not sure why the first call didn't work, it was an international caller. Maybe that upsets it.

    Case closed.

    I've updated to iOS 26

    I'm still waiting for 19… 😞

  • I think your phone itself answers the call.

  • No, visual voicemail isn't required. Your phone answers the call for you. It's completely independent of any telco features etc.

    • I think I will use this for all my comments now

haha I've tried turning it on but so far have only got 1 tradie who immediately hung up (no voicemail) so not sure if its working or not, I also have woolies mobile.

    • Thats my experience. People thing it is Voicemail and just hang up. I turned it off cause it was causing more grief than what it is worth.

Yeah I'm turning it off when I need something, like when applying for rentals.
It's too new for everyone at the moment
