Bose QuietComfort Ultra Noise Cancelling Headphones Gen 2 $595.41 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi Business

80

The second generation of these are out. Somehow these seem to be out here in Aus before there are any reviews online.

I picked these up a few days ago and I am delighted to move on the Sony XM6 I had. I would choose these every time over the XM6, sound and noise cancellation are similar but the comfort of these is next level in comparison for me.

Changes TL;DR

Shinier metal aesthetics, slightly wider headband
30 hours (from 24) with ANC
Immersive Audio Cinema Mode
Lossless audio with wired mode
Can turn off NC completely
Same drivers, but possibly better digital processing for ANC
Thanks @ATangk

  • how would you rate the mic perform in zoom/teams calls compared to XM6?

I’ve been using them for calls on teams the last couple days and only good reports.

In short, would the following feature make Spotify sound better through the headphones when connected with a cable to my laptop?

    “Lossless audio with wired mode”

    • +3

With the launch of Spotify lossless, potentially…

  • @MrFizz, could you give some comments on the transparency mode? Does it sound natural? I know the AirPods Pro 2/Max are still the best with transparency.

Also when you're on Teams calls, is the sidetone any good? On the XM5, I can only hear myself if I have transparency mode on but the XM5's transparency mode is not very good (very veiled).

    • Sorry mate, I don’t have anything meaningful to share here as I don’t use the transparency mode. The calls sound very good to me on teams and to me and others my voice sounds natural and clear.

  • Bose multi-device connectivity is dogshit for the QC45. Watch reviews before purchasing.

    • QC Ultra gen1 are Qualcomm qcc5181 based, so multipoint works excellently. Expect the same on gen2.

I think the real deals are going to be the run out Gen 1s, I think I'll get a set if they get cheap enough now! +6 hour battery sounds great, but in reality, the previous and current Bose I've had, I charge mine every night and they'll last me all day, 24 hours is longer than I can stay awake for, interestingly enough too, the battery life doesn't seem to get much worse over time, as in, 5 years later my NC700s are still fine for all day.

      Same here.
My 8 years old QC 35 II still become my daily driver and XM3 as my spare.

Darn I still have my Gen 1 brought months ago when there was pricing error in Bose Store (less than $200).
Still in unopened and sealed box and yet here the next gen comes lol.

    • Dm me if you want to sell it

I had picked these up a couple of days ago, an upgraded from my XM-3.
Originally I was after the XM-6, but I wasn't able to get a good price, so instead I got the Bose.

Love them heaps, in hindsight - happy I didn't get a good deal from the XM-6

    • Yup, agreed, I owned the XM6 and I would take these Bose every day over them.
