Are these kangaroo leather?
There is another pair on their website that are still $280 that mentions leather in the description.
These ones don't mention anything about being leather.
Thanks
Not sure why I'm being negged. It was a genuine question. Sorry, I haven't bought a pair of copa's in 20 years.
Anyway, bought a pair.
$151 - $27.50 topcashback.
Cheers!

Things of beauty 😍
Superb deal… Can't believe I'll be getting these for $120 delivered. (If the topcashback works)
I think the topcashback 20% only applies to products on their link's landing page. There are some firm ground copa's on there but couldn't see this discounted model, fingers crossed but not too hopeful.
Just got confirmation of $27.49 cashback.
All up, $123.71 including delivery. Can't complain.
That's an amazing price then, cheers for confirming!
Was this inclusive of the extra 10% off for Adiclub members?
How long did it take for the cashback to appear on your account?
Dumb question but how does topcashback work? I clicked on the cashack link and went to the adidas website through the topcashback link but havent gotten any money back
@ozzbaarrrgggaaan: you've done the right thing, if it has successfully tracked you would've received an email. Takes around 15 minutes
Let us know if they're made in Indonesia or Germany.
Thinking of either these Adidas boots or the Mizuno Neo 4 Pro boots for next season. Has anyone tried both these boots?
I had neo 3 pro, the sizing is super strange with them where they are quite narrow and tight even when sizing up (I bought 2 sizes to find the best fit). Once the fit is sorted though they're a bit more "modern" in terms of feel but that's about it.
Since switching to the copas i'd never look back, leather is soft and comfortable, didn't even require a break in for me and on top of all that I really enjoy the classic look.
Thanks, I'll head to the local intersports to try some on. I've read itxrd's comment down below and I'm certain intersports are selling calf leather
Mizuno is strange but if you got a wide/flat foot, it should fit you well but i still prefer the copa.
Great price. Great boot.
My old man yells at cloud trait is watching the footy and thinking that there's too many crazy colour football boots these days
These ones are GOOD
its not a performance boot, but definitely the most comfortable pair of boots you will ever wear.
Adidas are phasing out kangaroo leather in these boots and these are the last ones. New versions have calf leather and are on the website at $280.
The Kang leather SKU code is 015110
Thanks for thos info. Sad that adidas had succumbed to animal rights activists
I don't know if replacing kangaroo leather with calf leather implies they've "succumbed to animal rights activists". I suspect whatever they do it'll just be because it's cheaper than the previous version.
I just googled if it was cheaper and google AI says it isn't cheaper. With animal rights activists taking credit for the decision I suspect they have succummed.
@heal: Google AI isn't a useful reference point for anything, but I mean it's cheaper for THEM to make, not for US to buy
@trawg: I'm always up for finding out info and I'm aware that giogle AI isn't always the best source, but it is usually reasonably accurate. What's your source on that claim that it is cheaper for the manufacturer to make? Don't you think that activism has impacted the decision, considering kangaroo leather is superior?
sad that you made up stuff on an ozbargain deal page
I googled it before I made my comment because I was interested in gaining knowledge. I found several articles where animal rights activists took credit for the change. I couldn't find the press release by adidas, though after reading 4 articles I didn't look any further.
Sad that you're falsely accusing me of making things up, unfortunately it is expected behaviour on ozbargain these days
@heal: so they took credit for swapping the animal killed with another animal to be killed?
could it be because 2 years ago, their competitors Puma, Nike, and New Balance announced they would stop using kangaroo leather and switch to advanced synthetic alternatives that they claim are more ethical and perform better on the field.
or because as Google AI put it "Kangaroo leather is generally more expensive than calfskin leather, primarily due to limited supply, higher production costs, and its unique combination of strength and thinness. While both are considered premium materials, calfskin's price can vary, but it typically doesn't reach the high price point of kangaroo leather, which is limited by annual harvest quotas and the specialized nature of processing it."
@jabroni: Is that an apology for accusing me of making things up, and did you google all that before or after you posted your accusation?
@jabroni: Good to see your progression from your earlier post to your last comment, which equally applies to everyone.
could it be
Sounds like your opinion.
You also didn't answer my question.
That's a bit sad
We cull 1- 2 million Kangaroos each year (yes million per annum).
There hides traditionally for things like this.
Just going to be dumped now I guess.
NSW kangaroo population increased from 10.9 to 11.8 million from.2021 to 2022, according to a DPI survey. I acknowledge that kanagroo numbers fluctuate depending on the abundance of resources. Be careful of posting facts here. I seem to have upset some people.
I have Puma boots, size US 9.5, is the Adidas boot equivalent the same?
Not sure compared to your specific boots but I generally go at least half a size smaller than I am in other boots as the soft kangaroo leather of the Copas stretches and moulds to your foot. Therefore you want them tight when you first wear them.
It's because in California they have banned the sale of kangaroo leather. I don't know why they care about kangaroos but someone high up there must have patted one once.
Anyway as a result all of the companies are moving away from products that they can't sell in that market - which is a large one for them.
Also calf leather is cheaper to produce. So they're saving money. Btw the price of the boots isn't coming down. More $$ for them and they haven't even had the decency to tell us they're doing it. Just banking on most not even noticing.
AI that
Yep, so now they just dump the culled roos into landfill….
Might be time an Aussie made boots made for Australian sports, from Australian products.
I wore these for 10 + years in my junior days. And would get a year out of of each pair.
Don't know if it contributed to bad knees/ over probation but they were a great boot
Bad knees (and ankles, hips) are more prevalent with newer stud patterns which offer more grip than the traditional pattern on the Copa's. If you played on artificial pitches reasonably often, that would also be a big contributor.
No more size 10s :(
I used these for a season and thought they were rubbish. weighed too much and performed really bad in the rain, didnt feel like i had any ball control
All you need is a bit of Dubbin on them.
The only boots I've played in that were more comfortable than these were Asic.
These aren't exactly a performance boot but I'd choose them over one easily.
Great price too.
Used a pair of these for first half of my season this year, got kicked, fractured tibia, been off work 13 weeks now with at least 10 more YMMV
This boot should be called the REF Copa
this is a great price for one the few boots still made with KANGAROO leather, super comfortable
