Are we seeing slow Chinese car sales

    • +6

Always was gonna happen, Australia is small market, too many brands flooding market.

Which thankfully means at least one industry where we get a price break and competition.

    • "Chinese car"
      Only Chinese or overall?

    • +4

Four Chinese brands were in the top 10 car brand sales last month

      • It is a bloodbath. Only a few are doing well.

        • +4

Australians complain when there's monopolies in the market, then cry when there's too much competition.

          • @FXx: then cry when there's too much competition.

The commerical operator, not the consumer.

    • Kia has hundreds of Tasmans just sitting around in lots.

      • I think that says more about the Tasman than it does Kia! Hideous vehicle

        • +1

Disagree… many find it to be a cool design, price is the key issue, it needs to sit around mid 30s to drive sales.

@hoha99: They’d be selling at a loss in mid 30’s. I agree on the styling, I’d buy one if it fell into my budget. Looks different to the generic ones.

            • @Buddy195: A shame, as the interior is best in class by a long shot.

            • @Buddy195: All these Chinese companies are after market share, and would happily cut prices if they don't get the sales volume.

      • i thought you said tasmanians.

  • lol J8, great car, but sooo lazy in design, 80% GLE / GLS clone inside and outside with sprinklings of Velar and Q8 for certain bits.

Doubt this brand of cars will leave the workshop much during the first 5 years anyway

    • +1

      From workshop to the wreckers

  • Are they trying to be BMW with those fugly grills?

  • Family friend got the 9 last month RIP missed out on this deal.

  • Yes but, who's gonna guarantee that Cherry will have any dealerships left open in 5 years time?

We are living in unprecedented times…
If a major global company like Intel is on life support, what hope do companies like these have?
Cherry has packed up and left Australia once before, what's stopping them from doing that again?

    • +2

I reckon Cupra will be next to pack up and leave Australia again

    • +1

i have the same sentiment; competition is great but i have great concern that many of these new brands just won't survive due to extreme competition and small market.

It's not even just the chinese brands, citroen pulled out of aus last year, and there's many other european and japanese brands at risk too (e.g. peugeot & nissan)

  • I'll need another table up list out all the differences between the cars listed. This naming is just plain confusion!

  • Has anyone bought a Jaecoo and if so, what are your thoughts and feelings on it?
I'm seriously considering the Jaecoo 7 Ridge. Don't do enough klms to warrant the SHS.

A Jaecoo FB page I subscribe to has so many people absolutely loving their cars.
Would love to get some OzB owner experiences if you have any to share.
