BlackVue DR970X 2CH 4K UHD Dash Cam 64GB $684.99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Autobarn

Top of the range BLACKVUE Dash Camera (Ozbargains favourite Dash brand) at a pretty good deal at 30% off. I think looking online this might be a superseded model but at this price the features and specs stack up well.

Typically have seen with storewides across AUTOBARN, Repco, Supercheap etc they might have 20-25% off. Looks like a good deal at the price.

Just did this, on this dashcam.

  • If they had the LTE or LTE Plus versions at Autobarn on special I would definitely buy it.

970x Plus II is the latest, but is same sensor and the normal 970x Plus edition.

The 970x (non plus) is an older varaint. Speaking from personal experience of owning the 2CH 970X Plus 256GB kit (paid $870 for it from Amazon AU in Feb), I would never again buy another Blackvue device. I'm on my 2nd warranty replacement (3rd device) since February….

Their current high-end line suffers from over-heating (hot to touch), leading to failure of hardware (constant rebooting whilst driving, failure of GPS, outright failure of device, unacceptable night recording, unacceptable HDR implementation, etc.).

Save yourself the headache and grief and buy something like the Viofo A329 if looking for a higher end device.

I’m the owner of a BlackVue Gold Pro 2Ch and the app is an exercise in frustration.

It’s clunky and slow to review/download a video via the iOS app. Plus I often can’t resolve number plates from the footage. Unsure if the camera has improved but I find it not fit for purpose despite the claimed specs.

For the amount of money they charge I was expecting a much better UX

    • Same as cheap Chinese dash cam. Personally I won't spend more than $100 for this kind of devices - using this kind of cam for more than 20 years, and 50km + every year. This kind of cam usage is very limited.

    • Can't resolve any number plates at night whilst in motion…

Daylight recording is fine as long as you-re using a CPL filter.

Recording quality issues aside, the constant crashing, over-heating don't seem to be something they can resolve by firmware updates.Their RMA service is excellent, though I don't see how continually changing out hardware is going to resolve the issues.

  • There is also a newer rumoured Blackvue version coming out with finally a rear 4K cam as well.

    • Go redtiger. They already have this.
