Has Anyone Successfully Negotiated a Lower Rate with Their Current ISP?

I'm with Superloop and I can't be bothered switching ISPs for the new customer discount that most ISPs have. Any tips on calling up Superloop for a discount on my current plan?

  • I have..

Just go to the online chat and give them the 30 days cancel notice and they will call you.. I asked them to match the ISP I was going too

    • Did they end up matching it?

  • superloop would only offer me $99 for 12 months for the 1000/100 plan
they did not want to entertain the $145 deal for 2000/200 at all.

    • How did you go about doing it? Calling up and asking to cancel?

I'm with Aussie and every 6 months I email the retention team and ask for a discount else I'm going to move. They've given me $10 off a month for the last 24 months.

I can't be bothered switching ISPs for the new customer discount

    What bother?
Apply online, internet goes down for 5 mins, old account cancelled, new account started, $ saved…

    • I think I need to line up the cancellation of my Superloop one with the new ISP

I find switching to a new ISP is easier than ringing up and asking for a discount.

  • Yeah, Superloop gave me $5 per month when I said I was going to cancel

  • I called up iinet to ask whether or not my 24 months lock in was over (they supplied a free tplink vx420-g2h when i signed up, on the provisio that i stick with them 24 months or else they slug me the cost of the unit)

When they confirmed that yes my obligation was over, i said great then i can move to a different ISP, and they basically put me through to sales/retention who offered me $10/off for 6 months. So currently i'm paying $85 for 500/50.

I'm still keen on moving to a different isp if it can save me money, but from what i have read online; if i do that i'm probably going to need a new router as the one i have is locked down to tpg/iinet; so that's a bit of a turn off.

    • Damn hate the loyalty tax, why things must be that way!
