Looking for a basic black desk?

Have been looking for a sturdy basic black desk for a while. Would like to spend no more than $100. Very hard to find in this colour. Have no problems finding desks in brown or white that fit the bill but no black. If anyone has suggestions would be much appreciated?

  • I can recall Bunnings having some black table top hobby wood, didn't look too thick though. There was also a clearance of Flatpax workbenches thick and heavy duty you could screw in some metal legs from ikea.

    Have you tried Ikea? http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/departments/wor…

Or pair up $5 legs with a table top http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/departments/wor…

Unfortuneatly can't find straight black but they do have black-brown. If you don't mind glass this is black http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/40221467/

    • I am not very handy so I can't see myself making a desk from scratch. Thanks for the information though.

      • Aside from the Bunnings hobby wood, the Flatpax and everything at Ikea are likely to be predrilled or ready to take the legs, and are probably easier to assemble than one from Officeworks for example.

  • Officeworks usually has a few - This was one I found on a quick search

    • Actually I keep a regular eye on officeworks and the mason desk is the first one I have seen for a long time in black. They mostly have brown or white. I have checked out the mason desk on display and even though I like the finish and the sturdiness I'm just not sure enough about the shape because its not a rectangular desk.

  • Consider a free one from Gumtree and a tin of black paint from Bunnings
