650

Was just looking at Dewalt on Supercheap Auto and saw that everything is marked clearance, but this kit stood out as being by far the highest % discount.

Stock availability is low and pretty random in the few areas I checked.

Good spec for a 12V drill, matching or beating some lower spec 18v drills.

Voltage 12V
No Load Speed 0-425/0-1500 RPM
Clutch Positions 15
Maximum Torque 57.5Nm
Chuck Capacity 10mm (Keyless)

The Dewalt 18v batteries WILL NOT work in this drill, They are completely different and will not fit anyway.

Weighs less than the 18v :)

    • I have a compact 18v hammer drill, with a 5Ah battery - my hand quickly gets tired when doing above the head works

      • +3

Stick with the 18V system, just buy a 2Ah battery as that's all you really need for a drill or standard impact driver. Grinders and circular saws are a different matter…

I have this drill, it is more than enough for almost all interior jobs.
I still bring my 18V one if I need to climb up into the roof or down into the subfloor. Don't want to risk the 12V not being enough and having to climb all the way back out. Also if you need to drill a through-hole on structural pines, you might want to stick with the 18V ones.
The 12V 1/2 inch impact wrench works amazingly well for garage mechanics doing rotations. Never had a problem taking the lug nuts off.

    • We bought some 12v makita gear for the office. Works well everytihng we use it for, from unscrewing laptop cases to driving long screws into timber. If I'm running a hole saw or drilling into concrete I'll bring my 18v in from home. A lighter lower powered drill is handier than you may think, but I think if you only had access to a single drill, a smaller 18v would strike a better balance (with impact mode for masonry).

  • work with 18v battery?

    • I did a quick google before and apparently not :(

    • Definitely not, you would fry your drill.

      • No you wouldn't. Your major issue would be that you've physically broken the battery or the battery holder to get the 18v battery into the tool. They don't fit. DeWalt aren't daft, they and every other manufacturer know to design non-compatible components so that they can't be joined (electrically at least).

Will work really well, but only for a short time until the smoke escapes.

You would not be able to physically connect a 18v battery to a 12v battery DeWalt drill/system.

  • The multi head 12v for $150 last week was an absolute steal. Glad I bought one

$50 for the drill driver is a pretty great deal too, but pretty much only available in some regional stores.

  • Can this be compatible with the 18b 5.0 ah battery?

    • No

  • out of stock.

    • Still showing in stock for me in Canberra. Probably just none in your area.

      • Now sold out in Canberra and Queanbeyan

  • No stock in Glen Huntly area :(

    • Looks like only Bendigo and Shepparton and Horsham showing stock

      • Thank you for that, too far for me. The hunt for my first home drill continues

  • Anyone know any store in Victoria with stock?

    • See my comment just above yours.

      • Ah, Tks.

Thanks for this. Just got my first drill. In stock at Bundall on the Gold Coast

Good choice. I've had my 12V DeWalt drill for over 10 years, probably my favorite ever (most used) power tool. Happy drilling.

    • Next step
      * Ozito
      Then
      * Ryobi, AEG, Dewalt, Milwaukee etc

    Very unfortunate 12V only

  • good as a casual unit, if using a screwdriver is too hard.

  • I use one of these regularly. Great compact size.

  • Nice, had $20 credit from all the stuff I bought in the previous 50% off DeWalt deal so got this for $29. Xmas present for….. someone… sorted. =D

Grabbed the circular saw kit for half price $139 as well. Looked up some YouTube reviews previously and it's highly rated. Not much stock left though. You'll have to be lucky in your state.

Also their payment gateway was giving me grief last night so I gave up, but tried again this morning and CC worked but PayPal was still stuffed.

  • Will this be able to drill into an outside rendered concrete wall? E.g. to put up a clothesline, awning etc?
