  • Previously used these guys, good customer service, never had an issue.

  • I know this is a bit harsh.

I got my OVH Australia Server with:
    SYS-1 | Intel Xeon-E 2136 rental for 1 month +$92.49
    128GB DDR4 ECC 2666MHz rental for 1 month +$50.39
2x SSD NVMe 512GB Enterprise Class Soft RAID rental for 1 month +$0.00
Special offer :25% off on SYS-1 (SPG/SYD datacenters), SYS-GAME-1 and SYS-GAME-2 servers, for 12 months commitment. Offer valid until server cancellation. -$23.12
Special offer : 75% off on RAM options on SYS-1,SYS-3, SYS-GAME-1 and SYS-GAME-2 servers, for all commitment. Offer valids until server cancellation. -$37.79
    +%10 GST +$8.2

    Total: $90.17

The only issue is the 500Mbps bandwidth, which limits traffic to 10TB for a 1-month rental. Also, the benchmark is slightly lower than the E2246G.
However, I use only a fraction of this bandwidth. I run Proxmox with a VOIP server and web server, and I also purchased some additional IPv4 addresses for $ 2.50 each per month.

Thanks for sharing, it's not harsh at all, and I appreciate the comparison.

There's no denying OVH offers sharp pricing, especially for long term commitments. Where we aim to stand out is through service and flexibility.

I'll elaborate on a point I made in the post. Our transit provider is GSL Networks, which provides strong domestic peering and low-latency international routes. This ensures excellent performance both in and out of Australia, something that may or may not be important to you. It can be particularly important for use cases like gaming which is the majority of our clientele. GSL’s inline DDoS protection, combined with our on-premise solution, also helps maintain high-quality, secure service.

Additionally - being a smaller, Australian-owned provider, we can offer more direct support compared to the “ticket-only” approach typical of larger providers. We also don’t lock you into long-term contracts to access discounts, our pricing is the same whether you stay for one month or twelve.

At the end of the day I think it boils down to what you want. It's near on impossible to price match a multi-national company like OVHcloud that operates it's own datacentres and still be profitable. I definitely can't claim to offer the cheapest price but there are other ways to be competitive.
