Back on again. I’ve owned two of these over nearly two years, both still running flawlessly. Great value for front + rear coverage, 1296P+1080P, Wi-Fi, decent app control, G-sensor, night vision, and parking mode which I got the optional hardwire kit: link and also there's the OBD version: link.
Support from DDPAI was excellent when setting up. It’s not 4K and no GPS, but for under $70, it is a great dash cam option.
I find it interesting HN sells these too - $179
Helpful notes from the last deal:
- DIY install is doable - hardest part is routing the cables neatly. Fuse taps make it reversible so it won’t void warranty.
- OBD kit is the easiest method, avoids fuse selection. Hardwiring also fine (allow a couple hours, multimeter helps).
- Kia Sorento owners: needs mini fuses for the hardwire kit (not standard size).
- Can also run from the front 12V port if you don’t want to hardwire.
- Battery drain concerns: this kit has low-voltage cut-off (~11.8V) to protect the battery. Some users add a kill switch for extra control.
- No GPS - some see it as important, others think it’s unnecessary or can work against you.
- Video quality: plates clear within a few metres, struggles at distance. Tip: say the rego aloud while recording (audio is captured).
- App: connects via WiFi, a bit fiddly at first, but easy to use and download clips once connected.
- Power input is USB-C. Old mini-USB kits won’t fit without an adaptor.
- Price history: as low as $67.99, but fluctuates (often higher).
