It's a good time to join since Prime Big Deal Days are 7-13 Oct.

Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the offer where the first 20,000 eligible Amazon.com.au customers who are invited by Amazon, whether through email, push notification or onsite marketing at Amazon.com.au or in the Amazon App while signed into their Amazon customer account can receive $10 off a purchase of $39 or more eligible item(s) when they use the promotional code JOINPRIME at Checkout if they sign-up for a Prime membership before 13 October 2025 (“Offer”). This Offer ends at 11.59pm (Sydney time) on 13 October 2025 or the Offer being fully redeemed. The promotional credit must be redeemed by 11.55pm (Sydney time) 12 November 2025.
To redeem this Offer, eligible customers must be one of the first 20,000 to sign-up for a Prime membership before 13 October 2025 and redeem their promotional credit before 12 November 2025. The $10 promotional credit will be available within 24 hours of Prime sign-up. Eligible customers must add at least $39 worth of eligible item(s) to their cart at Amazon.com.au or in the Amazon App, enter the promotional code at Checkout, and the discount will be applied to the eligible items. If a customer does not add any eligible items to cart, the promotional code and this Offer will not apply. The promotional code is single use and can only be redeemed once by eligible customers. If a customer cancels or returns any eligible item purchased using the promotional code, they will only be refunded the price paid for those eligible items (that is, less the value of the promotional code) and the promotional code will be invalidated.
For the purposes of these terms and conditions “eligible items” refers to any product sold at Amazon.com.au or in the Amazon App but does not apply to: (1) products sold by Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Japan, or Amazon Germany Global Stores even if fulfilled by Amazon AU; (2) clothing apparel; (3) alcohol; and (4) digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates.

This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. This Offer cannot be used on pre-existing orders. This Offer does not apply to orders placed with 1-Click. This Offer is not transferable and may not be resold. This Offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn or amended without notice. This Offer is not redeemable for cash. This Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold.

The Amazon.com.au Conditions of Use and Sale apply. Delivery charges will be applied to each item in accordance with the Amazon.com.au standard delivery rates and policies. If a customer violates any terms and conditions of this Offer, use of the promotional code will be invalid, and the customer will not be eligible for this Offer. Amazon may elect to cancel a transaction (and refund monies paid) if it considers that a customer is violating these terms or to address suspected misuse, abuse or fraud. Amazon reserves the right to cancel this Offer at any time where it suspects misuse, abuse or fraud.

  • Out of interest, how many times can you be a "new customer" (with the same delivery address) before something gets triggered at Amazon?

    • unlimited as they are still sending invite out I suppose?

Create a new account as "new customer" would be a different story

    • From my experience just check if you can redeem the code, if code is accepted and you don't get the credit, you can talk to customer service and they'll apply credit for you

  • Is it worth to join Prime today for $79 per year?

    • +9

      not really

      • -6

        Why not? $79 ÷ 12 = $6.58 / month.

        • Prime Shipping: Free Unlimited Same/Next Day Shipping
        • Prime Video
        • Prime Music
        • Prime Reading
        • Prime Gaming: 1 Free Twitch Subscription Per Month
        • Current Promotion: 2 Years of Free DashPass

It is objectively worth it for most people, even if it isn't personally for you.

Obviously the value of Prime is completely subjective.
According to my Amazon account page, my Prime savings in the last 12 months are $1,153 on expedited delivery and $176 from Prime exclusive deals & offers.
Also have gotten dozens and dozens of game keys for Steam/Epic/GOG/Xbox/Etc.
And watched a lot of series and movies on Prime Video too.

For me, it's so absurdly worth it, and i can't think of another subscription that comes even remotely close in terms of value, and i know there are other people that get far more use out of it than i do.

Would you have actually paid for the expedited shipping though? Sure it's nice but I feel that as a 'saving' is a bit of an inflated measure.

        • I mean it’s free shipping, plus they also upgrade it to expedited as part of the membership.
I would have bought virtually nothing from Amazon the past year if I had to factor in minimum $8 postage per order, as most of what I buy is not high value items which would qualify for the minimum spend free shipping option.

          • @lordezekiel:

I would have bought virtually nothing from Amazon the past year

            That's how they got you.

            • @AmexReferralPlease: You still would be buying essential items from elsewhere. It's cheaper and more convenient through Amazon.

          • @lordezekiel: Neh. It's extremely easy to plan your needs, and add some basics for free shopping

For me $49 and no ads on Prime Video was good value. I let mine lapse a few months ago and while I miss the expedited shipping and being able to order small low value items like toothpaste on their own, I'm struggling to justify rejoin cost.
Instead I wait until I have 3 or 4 things to get value over free shipping threshold. $79 is a convenience/quality of life fee I guess.

    • Yes, absolutely. I don't know a single person that doesn't have Prime in real life.

      • +1

        Me.
I left when they increased the price from $49.

      • +1

        That's not a good thing

    • +1

No. Get some free trial for a month or two first, then decide. And still no.

    • +2

It WAS worth it for me when they shipped everything they sell. Now there's so much they don't ship to me I rarely shop there.

  • So can you get the 10 off on a prime trial?

    • I joined around the time I posted this deal (with a free trial), but have yet to be notified of that the promotional credit is available. It does say:

The $10 promotional credit will be available within 24 hours of Prime sign-up

      • You noticed that to join prime once again the only way to join is to click the "start your 30 day free trial" right?

  • Where do you put the code in?

    • During checkout when buying something. I had to commit to buying Prime before completing checkout, and then entered JOINPRIME in the gift cards and promo section on the final screen. It then allowed me to use a $10 promotion credit on the order I was about to pay for.

3 month free prize comes up quite frequently from Maccas Monopoly, maybe you could post on Classifieds to buy one

      1. This Prize is available to Australian residents who meet the following eligibility requirements: (a) is not a current member of Amazon Prime; (b) has not been a member of Amazon Prime, or signed up for or completed a free trial of Amazon Prime through amazon.com.au in the 30 days prior to activating the offer; and (c) is a valid recipient of the Prize in accordance with the terms and conditions. The Prize can only be redeemed once per eligible customer.
      • Fair, need to wait 30 days if you are already a prime member. I don't think it's hard to open a new account though, or use your wife's account etc

    • What's that?

  • Amazon going back to their initial deals. Have they doing alright lately? I thought they are very rich recently.

  • Still has 2y doordash now?

  • They are offering me a free trial, which I assume is to tempt me to buy stuff during October's prime week. But I am going to save it for Black Friday through to Boxing Day.

    • oops I just accepted the offer
