Just 30 minutes after this dude proclaims too

Yet another all-time low for the best AM5 chip on the market!

      Race to the bottom

    • +13

ooo the temperature is Ryzen again :D

Mwave seem to have cheap prices on a few high end products recently. I gather there's some sensitivity about their financial position so a little research seems worthwhile before diving straight into dealing with them.

      • +9

I don't trust a word Google AI spits at me.

        • What about what was summarised there is inaccurate?

    • Imo as long as you are buying non preorder you will be fine.

  • +8

    Me: with a 7700 Holding for AM6 12core X3D.
Ozbargin: have i got a great deal for you.

this is even cheaper if you only want 12 cores, assuming code works as well.

      • +4

I think he meant on all 12 cores; rumour’s that AMD’s new AM6 will have 12 cores on single CCD which’s what I’m waiting on too.

        • ah ok, wasnt aware

        • -1

          This

    • +5

7700 is more than capable. Definitely a HODL.

  • +2

    is Mwave safe yet?

    • +2

Going by other threads people have been receiving their goods so I would say so until we hear otherwise.

    • I thought they were reliable supplier. Any recent issues?

      • +1

went into administration and had to be sold, i think to digidirect

    • +1

Picked up a $1k pre-order the other day that I've been waiting a little over a month for with no issues.

  • +6

Anything is safe if you pay with credit card.

9800x3d is better if you're purely a gamer.

    • -5

Sure, but this benches on passmark at pretty much twice the performance

      • Not saying this chip wouldn't perform better but passmark is known to be unreliable

      • +1

What does this mean? What is the real world performance gain in games?

It seems 9800x3d is better for gaming yes?

        • +4

Better value I believe. Gaming performance is more or less tied with the 9950X3D, but it costs about $300 less.

        • +2

all X3D chips perform same within margin of error for gaming (same generation chips ofc) the difference is for creative workloads

    • It’s just cheaper. You’re getting similar gaming performance with this compared to the 9800X3D, since both CCDs have similar clock speeds.

  • -3

jack of two trades, master of none. 9950x still benches slightly better for multitask/productivity.

  • Motherboard suggestion?

    • +4

      An AM5 one.

    • +1

Something with wifi 7 as you're probably going to sit on this board with this CPU combo for a while and the NBN in Australia is seriously fast now and getting faster. You'll want to be able to make the most of that in a couple of years from now.

  • +1

My order isn't processing through Paypal, though money was already taken out of my bank account so not sure what's happening. But an absolute steal if it goes through

  • How does the performance compare to the 9800X3D?

    • More or less just as good in gaming on Windows, save for a few exceptions where Game Mode isn't working to prioritise the X3D cores properly, and unambiguously better in almost everything else.

  • Shame I bought this about a week and a half ago, ah well. CPU is great so far, I'm happy regardless

  • I have a 7800X3D, how much better is this? *for gaming

    • Most games 5-10% at 1080…

      4k almost guaranteed GPU bound.

Hardware unbox just did a video vs the 9800X3D

      Check it out

    • +2

dont waste your money, only upgrade if you need more cores

And you dont need more cores for gaming at any resolution

  • Wow… I have a 7700X, I’m holding for Black Friday’s deals, would really appreciate this for AI and compiler workloads…

  • Transit Cover:
    $6.84

    Bank Transaction Fee:
    $9.76

(transit cover) is optional and covers Lost or Damaged consignments only – priority is given to all customer claims who have selected this cover. Customers who have not selected this option may experience longer waiting and processing times.

sounds like this speeds up claims but without the cover you are still covered by the carrier. (auspost / star track)

  • Mine changed to post this morning. Only at label created, so far.

    • Mine is still stuck on processing, hopefully order goes through

      • Order went through!

    • Mine arrived today. Use StarTrack. Apparently Startrack can't manage overnight so it took 2 days.

  • For those wondering if Mwave safe to purchase -
I've got my GPU ready for pick up after 2 days.

Their customer service was also helpful when I contacted them to change something in my order.
