Just 30 minutes after this dude proclaims too

Yet another all-time low for the best AM5 chip on the market!

    • Race to the bottom

ooo the temperature is Ryzen again :D

Mwave seem to have cheap prices on a few high end products recently. I gather there's some sensitivity about their financial position so a little research seems worthwhile before diving straight into dealing with them.

      this is from AI Google:

Acquisition: The DigiDirect Group purchased Mwave in June 2025 after Mwave's parent company, Esel, entered voluntary administration.
Business Continuity: Mwave will continue to trade and serve customers.
Customer Support: Mwave's customer support remains available through its website, live chat, help center, phone at 02 8257 3699, and email at [email protected].
Location: Operations will continue from the current Lidcombe headquarters temporarily before moving to the DigiDirect headquarters in South Strathfield, Sydney.
Existing Orders and Policies: Gift cards, store credits, unfulfilled orders, warranties, and the 30-day change-of-mind policy will all be honored.

I don't trust a word Google AI spits at me.

    Me: with a 7700 Holding for AM6 12core X3D.
Ozbargin: have i got a great deal for you.

this is even cheaper if you only want 12 cores, assuming code works as well.

      • +2

I think he meant on all 12 cores; rumour’s that AMD’s new AM6 will have 12 cores on single CCD which’s what I’m waiting on too.

    • +3

7700 is more than capable. Definitely a HODL.

    is Mwave safe yet?

    • Going by other threads people have been receiving their goods so I would say so until we hear otherwise.

    • I thought they were reliable supplier. Any recent issues?

      • went into administration and had to be sold, i think to digidirect

Anything is safe if you pay with credit card.

9800x3d is better if you're purely a gamer.

    • -3

Sure, but this benches on passmark at pretty much twice the performance

      • Not saying this chip wouldn't perform better but passmark is known to be unreliable

      • What does this mean? What is the real world performance gain in games?

It seems 9800x3d is better for gaming yes?

        • +1

Better value I believe. Gaming performance is more or less tied with the 9950X3D, but it costs about $300 less.

        • all X3D chips perform same within margin of error for gaming (same generation chips ofc) the difference is for creative workloads

  • jack of two trades, master of none. 9950x still benches slightly better for multitask/productivity.

  • Motherboard suggestion?

    • An AM5 one.

    • Something with wifi 7 as you're probably going to sit on this board with this CPU combo for a while and the NBN in Australia is seriously fast now and getting faster. You'll want to be able to make the most of that in a couple of years from now.

  • My order isn't processing through Paypal, though money was already taken out of my bank account so not sure what's happening. But an absolute steal if it goes through

  • How does the performance compare to the 9800X3D?
