Im just going to throw it right out there that giving all my ID's to a 99c app doesnt seem quite right. I'd much prefer to give it to Optus, Qantas and others that like you know….give the data away for free.

Haha I don't think i can complete with those big player!
Totally get what you’re saying though. The difference with Digital Vault is that everything stays only on the user's phone. There’s no external server, no hidden interface, nothing being sent anywhere. So the user's IDs never leave their device unless they choose to share or back them up to their own iCloud.

This was an problem my wife and I faced so often, that i thought it was worth building something simple, hoping this would help others too.

Good to know, thanks for replying!

Free is free, but struggle with the concept of using a third party app for sensitive content, when Files app is built-in already. It even has scan document, search, folders, and doesn't get more secure than that.

You make a great point. However, hear me out, and this is just a personal opinion:

      Where Files is good
      - Deep iOS integration (Spotlight, iCloud, system-level security).
      - Trusted brand - people know Apple handles security seriously.
      - Basic scanning & organizing are already built in.

      Where Digital Vault differentiates
      Purpose-built for personal documents
      - Files is a general file browser. This app is laser-focused on IDs, receipts, and important docs, making it feel simpler and more natural for that use case.

      Custom categories, not just folders
      - With Files, you’re managing folders like a mini-computer. In Digital Vault, users can create categories that make sense to them (e.g. Insurance, Kids’ School Docs, Travel), which is more intuitive.

Faster retrieval through search + categories
      - In Files, search covers everything (and can feel cluttered). In Digital Vault, it’s about quickly finding just documents, not every file on the phone.

      Lightweight and focused
      - No iCloud Drive syncing unless the user explicitly wants it. For people who don’t want their IDs going into the cloud automatically, this is a big reassurance.

      Peace of mind in separation
      - Some users prefer a dedicated space for sensitive stuff instead of mixing it with every random file in Files.

        personal opinion or AI’s opinion?

        • -1

@trueozbargainer my thoughts and AI's magic to reword it in a way which can be consumed more professionally.

          • @roaddoug: When an app developer describes AI slop as "magic"…

      • I do want to point out the tagging system in Finder, have you tried that where your tags are effectively your categories in this app?

    Thanks Sylvester!

    from appstore description:
    Data Not Collected
The developer does not collect any data from this app.

  • Wow 1.6 MB app, you are on to something mate! 👍🏻

Can you lower the iOS requirement to 17.0 ?

  • +1

iOS requirement for 18.5 is a killer.
Trollstore is more important for me.

    • Thanks @bashar20 @Diplomats for calling it out
      You both are right.
I have lowered the requirement to iOS 17.6, and submitted to the app store. Should be released soon.

      • is it possible to lower it to 17.0 ?

  • “Trust me bro all your important documets are safe.”
So for those reasons I’m out.

    • -1

Well its not me, its the phone that you should trust! If you trust that your phone is a safe device, this app is safe.
All documents reside within the phone, and doesn't get stored externally, except if you chose to backup the data in your own iCloud.

Host paperless yourself if you can

I downloaded and tried the app, some feedback:
    - It would be good to secure the app with FaceID or a pin.
    - Once I scan and save the document, I cannot view the document in full-screen.
    - option to back up to Google Drive or OneDrive

    • +1

Appreciate the feedback @akd. I hope there are more people on here like you, who would be willing to try and pass on feedback.
      - The reason i didn't add faceid or pin to secure the app was because, that can be done via the apple ecosystem. If you long press the icon, it should give you an option to secure the app (any app infact) via faceid or pin. This is a new iOS 18 feature released by apple.
      - I will take note of your second and third point, and will definitely work on an enhancement in the coming days.

Again, thank you and i truly appreciate your feedback.

  • It’s 30 September but no longer free.
