[Perks] Oura Ring 4 (Black/Silver) $453 + Delivery ($0 C&C / In-Store) @ JB Hi-FI

110

The black and silver Oura Ring 4 is on sale at JBHifi for $483. There is a $30 off Perks coupon at the moment.
The rep also threw in the sizing kit for me for free - normally it's $15 (negotiated deal removed from title — Mod)

I tried the size on in the store and purchased the closest size. Kept the box closed until I was sure that was the right size.

Receipt was $453.

This doesn't include the addtional subscription which is $106 AUD for the year. (13 months including the one month free trial)

Oura Membership subscription

First month of Oura Membership is free with your purchase, $9.99 AUD/mo afterwards. Offer available to new members only. Or opt for the annual prepaid option for $109.99 AUD. Membership is tied to your account via the Oura App, not your physical ring.

Membership required to unlock Oura Ring's full functionality and data.

Modern day Smeagol’s relationship status: It’s complicated.

Is there any of these rings or bands that dont come with a stupid subscription? already paying so much to track don't want to spend on the subscription.

    • The Galaxy Ring doesn't need a sub, but from what I remember there may be some features missing between using the Galaxy Health app on a Samsung phone, vs. other Android phones - and no iOS compatibility.

Even if it was a sub free model, I wouldnt buy this. Crappy accuracy. Buy an apple or google watch if you need good monitoring.

      Ringconn Gen 2/Gen 2 Air

There are tons of such gadgets (for instance Mi bands, Huawei/Honor bands, Garmin etc) that can be used with the Gadgetbridge app, which not only doesn't require a subscription, but also doesn't violate your privacy. https://gadgetbridge.org/gadgets/

I have been using a Rinconn Gen 1 for the last year and it has bene fine.

Gen 2 is cheaper than the Oura and no subscription.

Wedding model has insane ongoing costs associated to it

    • The ultrahuman ring air is good, i have one (i purchased it 2nd hand on FB mp)

although step count is pretty unreliable (keeps underquoting massively like ~3000 steps each day when comparing to an apple watch which i hear is gold standard for steps on wearables along with the likes of garmin and others…

      • My 17yr old daughter bought one in Feb this year. I'm currently waiting on a refund to be processed after FIVE replacements. The first one suffered a battery issue which was acknowledged by them and the other 4 suffered connection issues.

I will give them props for their good customer service. Every time it has failed they have sent out a new one without issue, but holy hell, I dont know how that company is still in business.

Wow - I don't know what this is? Do I need one?

    • +4

      yea

    • +5

Since when has ozbargain been about 'need'?

      • +1

Impulse buys are usually when the item is stupid cheap, not for a $450 ring.

    • +7

      buy now, need later

  • What is the cheap and no subscription alternative that is recommended?
I saw many of them but not sure which one is good

    • +4

RingConn Gen 2 is probably the closest or the Galaxy Ring if you're a Samsung user, the rest are all pretty garbage.

  • this and whoop - bankrupt soon

    • +1

Oura is one of the few wearables companies doing well. But I have a Ringconn, I'm not paying a monthly subscription.

Didn't Oura partner with Palantir lol? Not sure how much id trust them

    • +2

      They did (link).

      • +5

        Avoid like the plague then.

      • Such a BS response by the CEO. They are clearly in a major partnership with the DOD, link who also contract Palantir for data collection. He's right Oura doesn't have a major partnership with Palantir directly, but to pretend they don't work together on major contracts for the same contractor is so stupid. We shouldn't believe anything the Americans say.

RingConn Gen 2 is what I would buy

  • Wonder if a company will bring out a ring called The Precious…😅

This or a diamond ring for proposal?

    • Should be asking onion or burger

  • +4

I am not buying any smart ring until they support payment

    • Hopefully it's added in galaxy ring 3, even if it only works with samsung pay

  • -3

Geez, for the price and annual subs you could get a good 2nd hand Fenix or brand new Instinct 3 solar and potentially not have to charge for a very long time!

  • Can I pair this to my swasticar ?

    • +1

I can't use oura ring to open my non Tesla car which opens with phone proximity or Apple watch if this is what you mean

      • Indeed, Thank you. There are these rings from EBay that can do this and act as a key. which is very handy. Would have been great if the aura could do that.

  • I paid $495 for Matt silver in July with jb.
Had a galaxy smart ring which was great for 5-6 months until battery life problem where it needed charging daily. Took months but eventually given a refund. Oura ring seems more comfortable as smooth inside.
Have a galaxy ultra watch so it's good getting different insights from the ring. The watch tends to think I've had an extra 30 minutes sleep each day. Today watch gave me 97 score and ring 88 score.
Think the oura works well with Apple too and as most Apple watch users have to charge daily then they probably don't wear it at night.
My watch needs charging twice a week and ring about every 6 days.

If you click through to the product in the JB website. Take a quick look at the bottom 4th picture on the left side…

    • It's a picture of the ring on a hand.

A ring that requires a subscription can go and (profanity) off.

If the ring was $50 and a subscription I'd consider it but paying full premium price and then a sub on top is ridiculous.

    • +1

Actually they are profaniting a lot of subscribers successfully. How do you think they reached version 4?

  • How does this compare to the One Ring in terms of power and features?
