    Weight: 3.2kg

7 kg - 3.2 kg = 3.8 kg. Practically half the capacity gone.

    • Yeah I tried to get the lightest carry on possible, 2.3kg is what I got

      Here. 2 for $34.50 for carry-on and personal item. 235g each. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C27DJYBR
You'll have 6.53kgs to play with.

    • This is just my personal experience, as long as you are flying a full service carrier they won't check your cabin weight. I haven't had ever checked. Again this is my experience

And if I am flying a budget or something with no check in, I don't wanted 2-3 kilos on a suitcase, just carry a backpack.

      • Better comply to be safe than sorry. I've had flights where they weigh it at the airport before inspection, and sometimes inside the gate lobby right before the flight (they'd roll a portable weighing machine right before boarding like complete arseholes).

        • Sounds like you fly JetStar.

      • I think it might depend on the route. Recently I've been at the gate where Virgin has called people up to get their luggage weighed before the flight, but that was flights to Cairns

        • Personally won't call virgin a full service airlines so that's pretty standard.

          Luggage and food isn't standard.

Honest question: what does this do that the $39 Kmart equivalent doesn't?
    (I'm in the market.)

    • Nothing really, I got my carry on in Bali for about $30. It has everything I need and it's light

    • Can't speak for this brand/product, but my Tumi rollerboard is now over 10 years old, has flown over 1 million miles across many hundreds of flights, and is in almost as good condition as the day I bought it - except for a handle latch that doesn't always release properly, but they are sending me a replacement handle (for free) to look after that as soon as they get some in stock, just like they sent me a free set of wheels when those needed replacement many years ago.

If you travel enough, there is benefit in paying more for quality. If you don't, absolutely go for the Kmart option.

      • My friend's expensive ass $500 Tumi backpack's zipper kept breaking so to each their own but there's definitely brand shenanigans going on

    • Quality and durability mainly. Material (polycarbonate vs polypropylene vs ABS), and stuff like zippers (e.g. YKK) or wheels (e.g. Hinomoto) where trusted parts have a credence of quality behind it. They don't matter as much for a carry on, but IMO worth it for large hard shell checked suitcases.

      • Definitely quality. My friends Kmart suitcase was cracked when she picked it up at the airport conveyor belt and then not 1, but 2 wheels broke on day 2 of a 3 week Euro trip 😂

    • I just got the kmart one, $39 well spent.
It is smaller than other carry on bags I looked at.
