Yes
I thought it was according to what was written in the Car manual.
@raj76 - it is.
If your manual says you need one of these @5W30, you can use this oil :
ACEA C3
BMW Longlife 04
MB-Approval 229.31/229.51
Porsche C30
VW 504 00/507 00
You can also use any other oil that also meets the same spec.
Thanks, the image on the product page was very blurry. 504/507 is what my car needs.
God damn I've never seen Castrol LL this cheap.
Been using Nulon Multi 23 after the most recent sales and still have 10L.
Do I buy two of these and just keep it stored for later use? Won't use it for 2 years like I did with the last lot I bought lol
Just give it a good shake before use, they have pretty long shelf life if not contaminated.
Fantastic price for full syn ACEA C3 oil. Also meets the following manufacturer approvals:
BMW-Longlife 04
MB-Approval 229.31/ 229.51
Porsche C30
VW 504 00/ 507 00
Good multi vehicle oil.
What is the difference with the Autobarn limited edition for $59.99 with bottle opener ? Seems expensive bottle opener.
A3/A4 spec, not meeting some of the Euro specs you see listed by axus350 above.
Interesting
According to their rego look up, it's not suitable for Hyundai Tucson petrol Highlander 2015 -2021
Super helpful comment for all those OzBargainers with a 2015-2021 petrol Tucson Highlander. Keep it up.
Don’t trust those. Google it or use Perplexity/ChatGPT to find out for correct answer.
Ah yes, trust a hallucinating chat bot instead. Amazing.
Is this just as good or better than the A3/B4 version?
For different type of engine. Check your user manual.
For my 6cyl Suby Castrol recommends the A3/B4 but not the C3 so probably give it a miss.
It’s not always about “better”, for example VW recommend different specs for different service schedules on some cars. The same engines can use different oils depending on service schedule too.
Definitely check your owners manual to be sure.
if your car is European yes this is better
Just bought 6 thanks a lot! 60% is great for these
It only shows that price for the nonLL version. I am logged into my membership account.
Hm but besides the description even the part number matches. But they have LL as a separate item in the search and the name is wrong on this one.
Since when Japanase brand cars are European ?
"European" is an idea. Australia hosted Eurovision, go figure.
Anyone tried to price beat with sca ? They only match the price. Usually they will give lower
Yes used a couple times on SCA chat support and they will beat the price.
They will give extra discount usually, but not today, they only match it
In VIC what do ozbargainers do with their waste engine oil?
I used to just take mine to a mates place who knew a guy who would come and collect it in bulk from 44 gal drums. It ended up fueling tug boats in the port. But that isn't happening anymore.
I checked with my local supercheap, and they allow it but they check it off against your prior purchases and don't take anything in >10l packs.
Repco don't take it. The local dump charges like a wounded bull ($2.50/l). Its crazy that they charge for it since its a valuable resource for fuel for ships/heating etc.
I take it to my local council tip. No payment or voucher required.
Monash Waste Transfer Station near Notting Hill used to take them, pretty sure they still do. There is a max quantity limit but it's plenty for domestic situations. Look it up.
Ahh thanks, yep thats my next closest after Knox and Lysterfield - who both charge.
Monash website still says its free up to 30l - just like it should be. Its so dangerous to the environment and its so valuable, I just can't get my head around Knox etc charging us for it.
I also note its the only one of those 3 who take polystyrene free if you take cardboard too.
Yep Mornington tip used to be free - pretty sure it still is.
I also go to Monash Tip in Notting Hill also. I just keep it in my garage until a time I'm driving past that way so it's not inconvenient. Wait until I have 3-4 bottles worth.
If they ask for a postcode just say Oakleigh's postcode or something 3166, they don't check.
Not sure why other tips charge, it's a bit ridiculous.
I was also saving and returning soft plastic to Monash tip also, until my local Woolies restarted soft plastic.
Yep, Mornington Peninsula Council takes the oil for free up to 20L at a time at all refuse stations, did this just last week.
My local supercheap just takes it no questions.
Same here. Drop off on a busy sat or sun morning usually..
I stockpile mine in that little gap between the garage and the fence, along with lengths of wood, odd pavers, and whatever else looks like a keeper.
careful if the sun hits the plastic containers. they get brittle and that then makes a mess as ive found out.
And coat the fence so the fence last longer at the sametime, contaminate the soil so there will be no weed to deal with along the fence line. Win win.
I've never had supercheap check my past purchases. It's not worth their time.
Would supercheap match? Doesn't seem to have a clear part/model number on the page, seems exactly same though
Search using part number in sca 3432979
i'm doing the price match now. will let you know how it goes
can confirm they'll price match but not price beat
Instore? They'll always beat the price online (even if by a few cents)
Anyhow if they beat I'd buy from them with 7-10% off gift card and their $5credit/$100spent bonus
Castrol is usually not my preferred go to oil. Shell Ultra Helix, penrite 10 Tenths Racing/Premium, Mobil 1 are better but for that price, hard to look past it.
Ok Piastri
Officially, Piastri can only use Motul now being they are the sponsor for McLaren.
I use Total Quartz (oui oui) and Redline ('Merica!).
Better how? Unless you’ve got a lab running VOA/UOA tests, it’s kind of like saying Coke is “better” than Pepsi.
I was advised by my relative who is a distributor of many engine oils in Indonesia that Caltex quality is downhill. He highly suggested to use Shell Ultra Helix. But I don't know whether it is same oil and conditions in Aussie
Agree completely
Castrol is the leader in the 'race to the bottom' for their oil formulation. They perform similarly but avoid pushing that one past more than 10,000kms and it should be fine. Frequent oil change is more important than using the best oil there is. I would grab some for that price
Shell Ultra Helix no discount for long time.
The Helix Ultra 0W-30 C2/C3 ECT VW504 was $67 last week but yeah the 5w-40 hasn't been on sale for awhile.
Been using this in my golf for last 10 years, have watched the rrp go from $50ish to $100+. This is a good price. Will pick some up
any 0w-40 castrol deals around?
this is basically Christmas for me and my Audi that burns a litre of oil every 800km
Anyone plan to use this engine oil for their Toyota 4 cylinder 2az-fe engine that guzzles oil like there’s no tomorrow?
Toyota Camry, Rav4, Tarago have this engine in Australia.
I have to use extra 5L engine oil bottle during my 7500-9000km/ year mileage. I top it up after checking the dipstick level every 2-3 weeks.
There is some members in Ozbargain community who drive an older Camry, Rav4 or Tarago & I’m curious about the oil consumption issues they might face.
Leave a reply comment if own a Toyota with excessive oil consumption.
Great oil. Bought up on it and give to my mechanic for the services.
What will happen to the car, eg. Mazda3 if we put this oil rather than with A3/A4 ? Will it damage the engine ? I regularly change oil every 10k
I thought it was according to what was written in the Car manual.
