    Up to 4.5% Cashback

    That is terrible..

    Thanks for the warning.

Absolutely, better off waiting for a weekly 10-12% off at Shopback etc.

I mean, cashback sites will usually give worse rates than google or direct website visit itself, I imagine Aura is the same. Always shop around, sometimes you'll get 1-2% extra with cashbacks, but it might not be worth the headache if it doesn't track.

I've booked a number of hotels recently and gotten better prices each time going direct without any cashback. Always worth checking.

          • @cliener: Yep, the only time it seems I can get good cashback is when I'm using cashbacks to the hotel chains directly. E.g. IHG sometimes has boosted cashbacks which dont increase prices when clicking through the cashback links as they're the direct pricing.

      • Isn't it monthly?

      • Even the default 5.5% Shopback is still better than this deal

    Biggest scam, $1.5 on flights.
    misleading

  • So we have the supplier (hotel), going through an aggregator (booking.com), then another middle layer (aura)… All parties have to made a profit somehow.

Where are all these extra fats coming from?

  • Not sure about Aura.

But for Cashback sites like Shopback I would imagine Commissions go from Hotel to Booking.com, then Booking.com pays commission to Shopback, then Shopback gives some back to user through 'promoting' Booking.com. It's the same fat going from the Hotel over multiple hands.

Booking direct lets the Hotel keep all the fat
