Saliva…
Coughing, sneezing…
You either have some on your monitor or you don't have good enough eyesight to see it if it's more than a few months old. These glossy OLEDs make it stand out a lot more than a matte finish standard monitor too.
Yeah it's definitely something that caught the attention of my ocd, that and the micro-scratches where the monitor light fell onto the screen once or twice before I decided to remove it completely (not really something I've missed on this monitor anyways).
It's a finicky style of product in that regard. Although, in saying that, I'd never swap back.
Or do you mean “saliva” hahaha
Mucus seems so much more fitting haha
Can definitely vouch for this note. I clean this thing like once a day and its getting pretty annoying lol. Might go back to WOLED just for convenience
Have been cleaning oled panel too every few days with 3 yr old wanting to touch screen all the time. Microfibre cloth with few drops of water is enough from my experience.
I highly recommend these slightly overpriced cloths for cleaning screens / lenses / glass - https://www.amazon.com.au/SIGA-Ultra-Microfiber-Cloths-Glass…
You can put them in the washing machine to clean and re-use.
Use with distilled water (~$3 from Bunnings) to ensure it dries without residue or streaking.
I've been looking for good quality microfibre, thanks.
Can also find distilled water at IGA for around $2 if you've got one near you. I put mine into a spray bottle
Dell rewards also has x2 offer until 16 Oct
x2 of what?
"DELL REWARDS"
What’s the value of 2x Dell Rewards?
Can you link me please?
Conscious that it's a Gaming Monitor, could this be OK for use as WFH monitor one day per week? I love OLED for my TV's but am yet to move across to OLED for my monitor - also not sure about QD-OLED tech, rather than W-OLED
I'm currently in the market for the largest good but affordable WFH monitor. Anybody have any hot recommendations? I'd love to keep an eye on some decent ones that I can hopefully snap up in any Black Friday/Cyber Monday type sales coming up.
Yes, a great one for WFH. It is so wide that you can fit two tabs side by side, and it will feel like having two monitors
The sub-pixel layout is known to cause fringing/slight blurriness on text, it's never really bothered me (I've had this monitor since launch, though it's since been relegated to secondary status) but it is noticeable.
Yep, I've noticed ingame text isn't as crisp as the rest of the game - so it's definitely not the strong point for this type of monitor, in saying that I'm not staring at excels or word docs so I can't comment as to how much of an issue it is.
Watch this review (if you have no time, just watch the section I linked), see how you feel about the risk of burn-in over time. Also, brightness is a bit low at 250nits in SDR so not as enjoyable if you are in a brightly lit office, especially given the screen coating. May not be an issue
My only complaint is screen ratio - I was used to having more vertical space, but you do get used to it.
Think of it as more horizontal space not less vertical space but depends on the app I guess
If you're only WFH 1 day a week, youll be fine. For me, I'm 4-5 days WFH a week so OLED is probs a no go for me just yet :(
Ive got the AW3225QF for a year now - WFH one day a week. Mainly productivity work.
Turn the brightness down to 50%
Black wallpaper and dark mode in Windows
Windows Power Settings to turn off display after 3 minutes
Let the pixel refresh happening periodically when it does
and a little bit of diligence with spreadsheets, word processing not leaving them on the screen for too longand you'll be absolutely fine. Good luck!
Mainly use it for gaming, and when I did wfh it was one day per week.
Not sure if anything is dif for business use, but I have the 165hz version (still oled etc)
Felt it was fine for work :)
If you're purely buying it for your one WFH day, then I would only question whether OLED/$900 is worth that
I've been 5 days WFH with excel, then gaming a couple of hours per night average on this panel (but it's the 1440p 27inch one) for the last year and no burn in at all yet. Fringing is a non-issue for me, don't even notice it.
Turn brightness down a little bit but the monitor has a lot of burn in management built in. Life is too short to worry about burn in on an OLED, and the panel is really good.
Insane price for that monitor. I bought the older AW3423DWF model about 2 years ago for $1300 and that was an all time low at the time.
One aspect that's not really talked about enough, in my opinion, is how good the viewing angles are. I mean, it's curved so ideally you are looking at it directly in the middle but it's like looking at a 2D image plane. Video
As for text fringing, I would be lying if I said I hadn't noticed it at the start, but even then, I wasn't very sensitive to it. Now I've completely gotten used to it and at normal viewing distances, it's an absolute non-issue IMO. You've got to shove your face right up there to even see it. Video
For the gamers, the motion clarity is bonkers.
Coming from a VA panel, no smearing, no blur, etc is crazy. Keep in mind on OLEDs clarity is impacted directly by the refresh rate so 240Hz won't look different to 120Hz on OLED if you're only getting 120FPSText fringing is slightly obvious to my eyes when the backdrop game is just so damn crisp, but it's a tradeoff I'd easily make again.
Love the viewing angle being so lenient. There's never a moment where you don't notice the high quality of the screen.
I currently am using an LG C2 42 inch OLED. Would changing to the 32 inch 4k one be a worthy upgrade? Id probably be able to sell the C2 for about $7-800. So would it be worth the $500 odd upgrade? 240hz is not required as I do not play FPS or multiplayer games.
Depends on your personal preference, seems like an entirely different setup.
How far do you sit from the screen and what are you using it for?
Is it possible that amazon prime day deal will have a lower price than this? I am really looking forward to getting this monitor but hope to get it as cheap as possible. Been waiting for a while for a good discount on this.
I doubt it, probably black friday end of next month but waiting sucks
i want to get this so bad but ill basically be using it for work 80% of the time (coding and design). anyone with similar experiences?
currently have a VA gigabyte panel and i absolutely love the form factor.Oled takes some tweaking like hiding taskbar and menu bar plus I personally use a full black vscode theme.
Colours are beautiful, if you're doing visual design or something it might be handy. For 80% productivity work it's probably overkill, only really stretches its legs when watching videos/movies and gaming
Great monitor.
Just a note you need to be on top of cleaning, as these types of monitors make any residue (e.g. saliva or food) glaringly obvious…
While it might seem silly to note, without having used this type of gloss before, any marks make it look patchy. Almost like a layer underneath was peeling off/bubbling. Actually gave me a scare until some online advice was to clean it with water and the supplied cloth, which cleared it right up.
That being said, it's the best looking screen I've ever used by far.
