Whats the point if it doesnt work

    • All I hope is that you have an SPF that works Westpac <3

    Questionable testing from this company.

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10-01/australian-sunscreen-…

One of them, Ultra Violette's SPF 50+ Lean Screen Mineral Mattifying Skinscreen, came back with an SPF of just 4, and its owner has since pulled it from the market.

    @OP trying to be controversial

What's the point of a free thing that is supposed to protect you from cancer but doesn't? It's like giving out a free condom with holes in it.

    lol nah wasnt this recalled

  • I have dealt with Ultra Violette and some other small businesses following the whole sunscreen saga. I must say, despite the very concerning SPF test result, UV is by far the best when it comes to customer support and their communication.

When their reputation is in the tanker and i assume possibly a class lawsuit, decent customer communication is the least they can do, I'd guess.

I'm not educated on this topic but didnt UV refute Choice's claims back in June on Instagram?

      • True! I actually forgot about this 😅 I contacted them before the recall was announced and they were very responsive. I am currently dealing with other smaller players and they ignored me for an entire month before finally responding, hence my initial comment.

        • Yeah but then another truck-load of additional retailers of this stuff have been named as having sub-standard sunscreen. All goes back to their supplier of the base UV-protecting chemical - doesn't work. So, they may have refuted it but they were wrong in their refutation. Wouldn't touch this stuff.

Not until they tried crying on social media for sympathy and criticising Choice but didn't get the support that they wanted.

Given the importance of sunscreen cream in Australia, this company is unethical in my book because of they way they dealt with choice's report.

I also noticed that they have a group of "customers" saying that they trust UV regardless so I'm not here to pick fight with those faithful "customers".

      • You're right, I totally forgot about them refuting Choice's result at the very beginning! I guess they are trying to win back customers, but unless they can show consistent and reliable test results of their SPF, I don't think any one would buy from them again.

The TGA investigation also shows how overpriced UV sunscreen is - there are lots of other small brand using the same base formula and charging only half the price.

    • Didn't they say choice is wrong and they stand by all their spf claims?

Free sun burn, and possibly sim cancer too.

What SPF do you use Nivlac?

      • Hamilton, Biore, Dermaveen.

        • I use Hamilton every day and wonder how they would perform if tested by Choice.

        • Does the Biore have an AUST L number?

          • @icomeandigo: Nah dont think so, its made it Japan and i reckon its not for Aussie's sun. However if you're working indoors, it'll be fine. I like that it isnt greasy.

    • Sim cancer? Best not to use esim then as that will probably cause sim cancer faster.

  • +3

I agree with the negs. If Choice didn't do the test they would still be selling us crap.

  • so theyre giving away all of their junk products?

  • is the real SPF above 4?
