Looking to Upgrade Router for nbn FTTP

Currently have a Netcomm 18ACV that connects to the NBN box in our pantry. Received it when I joined up to ABB.

We are on FTTP. I have a TP-Link Omada Wireless access point in the ceiling in hallway, computer is not cabled into the wall, as everything is via WIFI and a TP Archer AC 1900 dual band USB adapter next to the PC.

Currently on a 500/50 plan which is not the quickest.

Is it worth upgrading to something like a TP-Link Archer BE550 BE9300 Tri-Band Wifi 7 Router?

Any ‘geeks’ out there who can shed light on whether this worth doing or not?

Cheers.

I was using a Telstra gen 3 modem which was rooted.

I have “upgraded” to an eero 7 pro now I’m waiting for 2gb nbn to be connected.

TBH I couldn’t tell the difference with either modem on a 1000/100 connection.

Both get between 400-800 on WiFi (depending on distance) and 950 on Ethernet cable.

You could do the ozb way and get a gen 3 modem from fbmp for $30 and see how it goes.

    • Thanks mate, torn to what I will do @ present.
