Had a bottle Thursday night, finished it Friday β€” it definitely opened up nicely overnight. Single-vineyard McLaren Vale Grenache under $15/bottle delivered isn’t something you see often. Probably one for the wine drinkers who know where Grenache fits in the Vale story. Just nice to post something different to all the Shiraz and Cab Sav deals!

      • Might blast it with an aerator then. Might benefit from a few years in the cellar?

        • +1

Aerator or decanting will certainly help.
A young wine needing to relax.
Will certainly be worth putting a couple down for a few years - but like my Grenache like my Pinot, young and fresh. :-)

          • @RD ADL: Will report back when I get it! I like young fresh Pinots too so will see.

  • hmm 2025 vintage, been happy with 2024, not as much as 2021 but another year and another vintage, are 2025 big like 2021 or softer like 2022?

One of the great things about McLaren Vale is the consistency, those cool evenings rolling in off the Gulf of St Vincent keep flavour development on track most years.

2021 was a standout, vintage of a generation. 2025 was tougher with less water, so yields were down, but the smaller crops brought good concentration. Not quite the opulence of ’21, but still shaping up nicely for balanced, flavourful wines. Hope that helps :-)
