You got a link? Or a price?

I'd take an identifiable question at this point

    • tell them the price son!

  • Kind of, it's either them or ASUS Direct for the same price. At least with JB Hi‑Fi you can use discounted gift cards.

I think OP was meant to add this:

    JB HiFi
    Price: $1599

    Link: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/rog-xbox-ally-x-amd-ryzen…

    ASUS store
    Price: $1599

My question is, this or Steam Oled?

I've had both Rog Ally Z1 and Steamdeck LCD and OLED. Ended up selling the SD LCD and OLED only because the graphics drop was noticeable. I've been spoiled by 1080p (even on small screen) and VRR.

With that being said, I've just re-bought the SD LCD while on sale. The quick boot up and saving start-up times etc is where my current need is. With kids, a quick jump in and play, then pause and continue later is what I need more. While I could put Bazzite or Steam OS on the Ally, it's still good (for me) to have a windows handheld for some games.

I'm waiting to see what price drops are like on Z1E machines. The Z2E delivers a lot of efficiency gains, at 12W it's better than the steam deck or Z1E, but maxed out it's not really any faster than the Z1E. Seems like RAM speeds are becoming the limitation. Whereas at low power usage the Z1E isn't much faster than the steam deck (if you're trying to extend battery life).

So it comes down to what your needs are, but IMO if I find a Z1E based machine running SteamOS for under $1k that'd be the sweet spot for me.

  • I chose to order from the Asus Store because the information from JB Hi-Fi showed that their estimated dispatch date would be a few days later than Asus Store. I also didn’t have any JB Hi-Fi discount gift cards, so I decided to buy directly from the Asus Store and use ShopBack to get 3.5% cashback.

After placing my order, I received an email from ShopBack confirming a cashback of $55.96. I was quite surprised that ShopBack tracked the purchase just 15 minutes after I placed the order.

    Asus Aus Store
    Dispatch ETA: 16th October 2025

    JB Hi-Fi
    Dispatch ETA: 23rd October 2025

  • The cheapest would probably be ordering through a store through tmall.

It's worth reading the comments of previous deals on ozbargain or checking Facebook market.

But honestly I recommend buying the handhold from JB Hi Fi for peace of mind.

If you don't want to pay that much get the legion go. I love mine since you can buy a keyboard case so it doubles as a laptop.
