  • They have specials, currently on $1 a week for 12 months. 1 camera only though.

  • do these have microsd or local storage for those without internet or is storage cloud compulsory?

    • +1

I think per this it can be connected to arlo’s base station which uses microsd: https://kb.arlo.com/000062284/Arlo-SmartHub-and-Base-Station…

      • So this needs a homebase to work?

        • if your happy to pay subscriptions or only need live view with notifications no Base Station required

All Arlo video recordings can be stored to the cloud, but you can set up Local Storage on your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station and use it as a second location to store recordings. You can also use it as primary storage if you are not subscribed to Arlo Secure.

homebase is eufy it's too confusing with all these proprietary brands that seem to go out of their way to make things confusing luring you into subscriptions once you become sick of trying to figure it all out

continuous video recording has an open standard ONVIF we need a low powered (non continuous recording) for compatibility between battery powered devices in the market

          only relevant to eufy brand

Built in storage 16GB of inbuilt video storage. No Monthly Fee, No contracts, No hidden costs.

@mantra: I was going to go out on a limb that English is not your native language, given that both attempts at using punctuation that are not contain within quoted text are, also incorrect. Which would then allows you a free pass for the 4th paragraph being lexographically painful, but then I re-read the fluency with which you conveyed your opinion in the preceding text.

You're a little confused regarding ONVIF. It is not the problem, but the solution to your purported complaint. It's not specifically limited to continuous recording, or related to any form of recording, not even the foot streaming (which employs RTSP for functional, with neither implying support for the other inherently, even if on most cases true).

Your gripe is with the cost of doing business in the currency of electrons 24/7 and demanding it only be wireless/battery-powered (not sure how you feel about solar given it uses that pesky wire thing to deliver the electrons, but doesn't do a great deal to help with the problem).

What you're … Attempting to suggest is the solution is unrelated to the problem, but believing that there is a cost effective manner, or compact solution would both be wrong for the foreseeable future. Just use the wire and the two insurmountable obstacles that have plagued batteries since their inception quickly and painlessly cease to exist, almost like magic!

Haven’t tried it myself tho - so if someone has done it pls confirm

It produces good quality videos BUT the subscription they charge is one of the most expensive across all door bell providers making it not worth the cost. No option for local storage with Arlo and delayed notifications. I remember while using it, the notifications were nearly 30 to 40 seconds delayed. Plus when you start a call with the bell, the latency is too high making the conversation nearly impossible.

I've moved from Arlo to Reolink and couldn't be happier. No monthly cost + similar or better quality videos + local storage + Low latency and virtually no delay (would be based on your internet connection)

Do u have the reolink battery version? If so what’s it like?

    • Awesome cheers for that been looking around at some stuff and reliased alot try to bone you on their eco system/subs

  • subscription 🤮

    The search continues…

    • Reolink is an easy recommend if you want a good quality doorbell that's fully local with no subscriptions. They have 3 different models (PoE, 12V WiFi and battery WiFi) available with either portrait or landscape lenses, all models support SD card, NVR or other local storage options, support local AI person and vehicle detection, and have excellent picture quality.

They're not that much more expensive to buy, and once set up they shouldn't cost you a single cent again.

Can these work with Frigate and/or home assistant?

    • I was thinking this too, looks to be with add-on from HACS / GitHub.
