Hopefully they have fixed paying with PayPal. I did an order last week and it kept getting stuck on the final screen after authorising PayPal as payment. So I kept refreshing and repeating process only to find out all 4 orders went through.
Just be cautious of purchasing these through PayPal.
We had been doing so for several years ( purchase Woolies gift card through discounter, pay with PayPal linked to our credit card ).
Suddenly, PayPal began reporting the purchase to the CC provider using a different code ( effectively 'cash equivalence' purchase) and as a result the CC provider saw the purchase as a cash advance and began immediately charging fees and interest.
There's a big thread on Whirlpool with folks reporting their own variations of this, but our current findings are:
- gift card via paypal via CC = bad
- gift card via Paypal PAYIN4 via CC = unpredictable, usually OK
- gift card via CC direct = OKwoolworths payment processing has always been incompetent. It's like they don't even want your money. Their IT people are F tier.
If you're with RACQ you can get 4% off 😊
You can also get 4% gift cards if you are with Bupa or Woolworths Car Insurance customer. I’m sure there are more organisations providing 4% gift cards.
I would be interested if there were any places that did 5%+ on these gift cards though.
Sometimes you can get bank bonuses through Shopback that takes discount to 5% or higher on Woolies or some related card like Big W and BWS.
Other than that 4% on Woolies is the highest I’ve seen in years. ☹️
McBank - free to open a/c and has the highest, no-hoops interest rates.
Woolworths & Coles 3.5%
BigW, Dan, BWS 4.5%
Amazon 3%This isn't cheap.
It allows EDR$ to be converted to eGC here. It is a better option for those not opting for QFF.
