Hopefully they have fixed paying with PayPal. I did an order last week and it kept getting stuck on the final screen after authorising PayPal as payment. So I kept refreshing and repeating process only to find out all 4 orders went through.

Just be cautious of purchasing these through PayPal.
We had been doing so for several years ( purchase Woolies gift card through discounter, pay with PayPal linked to our credit card ).
Suddenly, PayPal began reporting the purchase to the CC provider using a different code ( effectively 'cash equivalence' purchase) and as a result the CC provider saw the purchase as a cash advance and began immediately charging fees and interest.
There's a big thread on Whirlpool with folks reporting their own variations of this, but our current findings are:
      - gift card via paypal via CC = bad
      - gift card via Paypal PAYIN4 via CC = unpredictable, usually OK
      - gift card via CC direct = OK

      • woolworths payment processing has always been incompetent. It's like they don't even want your money. Their IT people are F tier.

      • Couple of threads on here too, most recently as well as mine from a couple of years back.

I'm not sure if it's only CBA cards it's happening with but as I mentioned over there, if thats what you have turn on gambling lock and it will block anything considered a cash advance you may get surprised with.

If you're with RACQ you can get 4% off 😊

You can also get 4% gift cards if you are with Bupa or Woolworths Car Insurance customer. I’m sure there are more organisations providing 4% gift cards.

I would be interested if there were any places that did 5%+ on these gift cards though.

      • Sometimes you can get bank bonuses through Shopback that takes discount to 5% or higher on Woolies or some related card like Big W and BWS.
Other than that 4% on Woolies is the highest I’ve seen in years. ☹️

McBank - free to open a/c and has the highest, no-hoops interest rates.

    Woolworths & Coles 3.5%
    BigW, Dan, BWS 4.5%
    Amazon 3%

    This isn't cheap.

    • It allows EDR$ to be converted to eGC here. It is a better option for those not opting for QFF.

      • Shhhhh!
They are probably going to patch it anyway though:) Maybe restrict EDR$ payment to non promo products only?

        • There's a drawback: the 3% off eGC expires after 3 years.

          • @Neoika: I dont think so, it is just regular WISH, at least for now. Coming up with some nonsense description is cheaper than designing a new card type/SKU for woolies I guess.

            • @timedzone: It does have expiry. Pls check it again. It is not surprising in that WOW made it too good to be never expired in the beginning, just like some credit card's initial lifetime promise. But later, when they become burdens, those corporates can either sell its non-profitable business or rebrand to change the products. I was thinking it happening when it made the first move from Wish to Everyday Wish.

              • @Neoika: Interesting, the expiry does show up in the everyday gifting balance check, but not on the old website.
I guess 3 years is more than enough to burn through the edr$ you can practically earn anyway.

Don't know what was wrong with the old portal.. still used to get cards pretty much instantly, didn't have to "unwrap" my gift card, and opening the link on mobile would prompt to automatically add it to the rewards app (as much as I dislike that dog slow app too but to keep check on the balance. Catima for actually using in store)

  • This is an interesting card.

It can be used at Dan's and BWS online. It doesn't work at Dan's in store (says insufficient balance). Yet to try BWS in store.

    • It works as a wish card online but as intended offline. Probably coz it is a new card type so they haven't configured it properly yet.
And it is declined with an insufficient balance at unsupported stores, very funny.
