ATL at $12.50 a piece! For those getting into Home Automation here is another deal on the Meross mini-plug with Prime Day Sales. Note these are the overhauled mini-Wifi plugs which are significantly smaller than the old model. They're half the size and can be double stacked next to each other and don't block any power points which is a huge win.

I've been running mine for a number of months now and they've been running great for managing my heaters and lights in various rooms to keep my power bill down. Also fantastic for keeping an eye on energy usage for things like my drier/EV charger and seeing when they're done via the APP.

For those getting into automation note this is the normal Wifi plug but there is Matter plug too for HomeKit users. It's a little more but has native Matter support support for those who want it.

Amazon description:

  • Compact Design - Optimized mini size design to prevent blocking neighboring outlets. Made of V0 fire-resistant materials to prevent short circuits and overloads—ideal for safe and efficient smart socket setups

  • Real-Time Energy Monitoring - Track power usage in real time and view historical consumption. Meross App lets you calculate electricity costs for reference and make informed decisions to lower your bills

  • Custom Schedules & Timer - Set daily timers, countdowns, or on/off schedules for connected devices

  • Offline Control & Scene Mode - Even without internet, control your alexa smart plug locally via the Meross app. Offline routines keep schedules and timers running. Group devices into scenes and control them all with one tap

This kind of Smart Plug can get it from Aliexpress for $4 - $5 each.

I'd be wary of certification and the quality however. At least with meross its certified for Australia and well tested. I wouldn't risk it for an $8 saving!

  • Is this Tuya based or they use their own app?

    • +1

Based on their own app, these are made by meross they're not white labelled

  • Good price, but not ATL

I have the same ones. Very easy to setup and use.

  • What's Matter and do I need it on these smartplugs?

What is different about matter compared to normal wifi version ?

    • Matter is just a way to enable these plugs to connect to any eco-system you may have and span various eco-systems you may have at once. This might be a Matter eco-system, Homekit, Google Home, IKEA, SmartThings etc. It also requires a physical matter hub unlike the ones in this linked deal which don't require a hub.

The normal wifi version just means its fully managed through the Meross app. if you haven't setup smart plugs before, this is probably where you want to start :-)

      • So do you require to buy a matter hub if you use katter stuff?

Can a minipc act as a matter hub or no?

        • If you run Home Assistant you can run a Matter server through that, you just need the right software for it.

          • @JSONBourne: Ah right ye.

I think I will wait for a deal with matter as it would be nice to have it work with my google home.

Swing and a miss Meross. The power button is on the side, not the top! If you stack two of these together in a typical dual-gang power outlet you can't reach the button on one of them. I have other slim tuya-flavoured and xiaomi ones with the button on the top, way more convenient if you have to use the button.

How does it compare to the Tapo P110M? Can get it for $14 with the JB perks code at the moment which would be cheaper than the Meross Matter version?
