Been eyeing this since I missed out on that deal, personally, I'm going to wait until it drops down below $500 before I pull the trigger, hopefully BF sale.

Aside from a lower res screen, this is really all the watch you need for most activities. Have a fenix 8 and prefer the 955 for day to day wearing and activity - it's a lot lighter and the prefer the always on MIP display.

    • How did you end up having both?

I’ve been wanting a Fenix 8 so pretty interesting to me that you prefer to wear the older 955.
I have a Fenix 5plus, which was released in 2018. I didn’t get it until it was on special, so mine isn’t quite that old.
The 955 has the older gen 4 heart rate sensor. It was released mid 2022, so still a fairly old product.
I’m a huge fan of my Garmin, and prefer it to Apple. However it looks like Garmin is cooked long term. This is a “deal” for a more than 3 year old model for $549. The brand new Apple Watch series 11 is $679. Thats a brand new model for similar price to a 3 year old model. Don’t get me wrong, I still want a Garmin, but they don’t seem to be doing themselves any favours.

      • 955 not that old in the context of Garmins - I've still got a the Forerunner 935 which I bought in late 2018. Battery life is obviously not as good but still only charge every 4-5 days with my 3-4 times a week running. I wear it almost non stop and it looks great due to screen protectors and obviously got a load of different straps in that time. What's the masssive advantage of the newer gen heart rate sensor? I paid $550 and that was a slight discount at the time. I reckon I got my money's worth. Not yet ready for a new one :-) Garmin pay or higher resolution or touch displays seem a bit unnecessary to me… Who cares if the resolution is slightly crisper on a watch. It's not like you're watching 4k movies.

  • It's not longer available? Seems to be $648 for me now.
