Does this have the annoying cycle on and off sound?

    • No idea about this one but my $25 Healthy Choice induction cooker from this deal does make some noise when cooking.

  • The reviews make it sound like it is hard to use until you master it? Or is this common for all induction hobs?

    • my double induction hob is a bit unintuitive but its not rocket science. Solid unit, just limited by being portable (cheaper coil system as per all portables, lower power draw capability)

There are few tips and tricks to learn with induction cooking. Best to read the instruction manual before using.

I learnt the hard way when I took a slightly oversized frying pan camping without testing it first. Induction cooker didn't turn on and kept coming with an error code. I thought it was faulty, but it worked fine on our return, when tested with other smaller pans.

If it's anything like my Breville, the biggest problem is that it cooks so fast that you can accidentally burn things when you start using it.

The second problem with the Breville is that it has a bunch of cooking modes, but all that should matter is the output wattage.
This seems to have the same issue, but it's not a problem. It's like a microwave having a bunch of buttons other than 'Start/+30s'

If you haven't used induction, get a hob. They are great and easy to use.
I tried one for a few months, then upgraded my whole cooktop.

    • I don't have this model, but mine you just switch on and set your wattage, easy as. I wouldn't bother to learn the different modes, since they're just indirect ways to control the wattage.

Looks like those reviews are just people learning that induction heats very quick.

My model, several years old and might not be the best, beeps a lot when you lift up the pan. It also struggles to maintain a low power level so it can't be used for a simmer. Still love it, we use it all the time instead of our landlord special electric hob.

  • Sounds complicated

Buy the Topik Razor from an earlier post. Way way better. Spend more but it works the way you expect.

    • Topic has lower rating and is twice the price. Also, area under it's knob will fill with all sort of gunk from cooking, potentially causing issues with knob. One is Chinese brand and other is European.
