With excellent performance in all cooking tests, this hob from Ikea is a bargain buy. It's easy to use with very intuitive and simple controls and a digital display that's clear and bright. It has power levels from 0 to 9 that you control by simply pressing the plus or minus buttons. There's good spacing between the controls and a large pot, plus it has a residual heat indicator. The unit will beep if an unsuitable pot is placed on the element or if the pot is removed while the power is still on. Cleaning the plate and controls is easy with water and a microfibre cloth. Be mindful of spills as any large spills can flow over the edge and drip into the air vents, which can be difficult to clean.
Below average. The fan frequently fails to switch off automatically and may even activate when not in use. Furthermore, it does not support continuous low-power heating, operating only in intermittent mode.

I wish they could bring back the Plus version (I made up the name) that comes with the timer option.
Perfect hot pot eh?
I have one, it's a little chunky but works well.
The only issue I have noticed is if the sauce pan is in the right spot and just the right weight (smaller portion), the cooker vibrates/buzzes and moves the pan just slightly. Not enough for the pan to fall off but enough that's it no longer centred and the plate no longer inducts. I came back to my pan no longer cooking because it moved so far to the left.
buy a baking mat. I bought this https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/423717/min… and cut it in half to use on 2 of these cookers. Easy to clean and no more shimmying to the sides.
We got this sometime back when it was $49, and we only use that for cooking now. We kept a piece of wood (probably from Ikea itself) on top of our hotplate and kept this on top of that.
Anybody knows if this draws lower voltage on lower heat and if so what's the lowest draw
Don't they just cycle power rather lower draw ?
150w on 1 increasing progressively to 2000w on 9. On page 9 of manual. Have this unit and use it for hotpots.
I've had two of these units, first one bought about 3.5 years ago, worked great until it shorted itself one day and died
Bought a replacement that has much less responsive touch controls, makes more buzzing sounds and sometimes keeps the fan on for ages after you turn it off, not sure if this unit is faulty…oh it's 1 zone not 4.
I have one and happy with it.
