So if you already got a email from discord you know a bunch of data got leaked (3rd party support system hak) with them wanting payment from discord.

At least discord decided to do this earlier than other socials (with the accepted class action waiver), so now people who were cautious now know the risk.

Video towards the end also says "expect fake emails from discord asking you to click links and give other info" since it's one of the easiest tricks to do after leaks, if you cbb to watch the video.

One thing that isn't mentioned at all, is the face scans. So assume the face scans were safe, right? 😂

Also Discord is pretty big right. I mean not as big as google, but hopefully bigger companies can do it better?!

    Good thing I'm too old to know what a discord is. I'm sure it's similar to MSN Messenger but with more pronouns.

      anyway not big on there either. it's mainly focused on gamers and smaller communities (Thugshakercentral 😂, and as you guessed probably big with furries and other identities). I never got into gaming so I barely use it either (whenever people offered me the controller I would just say "I'll just watch"), just had it for certain communities where there was no other option. one is the keyboard community, it was the only place you could chat with group buyers and check progress whether your keycaps were being made/shipped, or if a smaller keyboard brand was going to release something new (Keychron isn't small anymore but was still regularly releasing new keyboards, they should be common enough for some ozbers to recognize). haven't logged in since then.

      it turned to shit though when they started pushing their premium sub hard, like just to get animated emoji's and they became pretty aggressive with it last few times I remember on every log in they would try to trick you into clicking "start".

      here's a more recent video I was just recommended. they are forcing new terms right now apparently. looks as if "lawsuit waver" wasn't enough.

    It feels like every week, someone’s personal information gets leaked online.

    And with the government wanting to enforce age limits on social media guarantees everyone's ID will end up leaked sooner or later.

    I might as well cut to the chase and just post it online myself.

      Nah, the age limit thing you just need to turn the camera on and draw a beard on your face.

      I love how we somehow got to the stage of so much technology and encryption, but ID is "see that number on the card you show everyone to prove who you are? Don't show it to anyone".

        you need to do that now? I did hear the game character filter with face tracking video doesn't work anymore on discord.

        just thought of this. but whatabout having a changing number on your ID. like how debit cards have it. then nobody can submit your ID to anyone without those changing numbers.

          You’re talking about 2FA?

          That’s because passwords are easy to brute-force or steal, you can’t really brute-force a license.

          Also 2FA won’t help much if your secret key or device gets compromised.

            you know your bank card?
            well there should be a digital version of it in the app, it's the same, but the security numbers on the back change on a regular basis (or every time you enter it). it's recommended to use it for online shopping.
