Any Free or DIY Options for Crypto Tax Report?

For tax return, my accountant needs tax report for crypto. Since, it is on multiple sites, he asked me to get the report from cointracking.info. But they are not free.

Does anyone know any free ways to get the reports?

  • You can download your records in most cases (eg binance definitely supports it) and then put it together in like excel if you’re half decent at data handling and need to collate over multiple locations/sources.

Consider the cost of the platform is tax deductible too? Koinly and crypto tax calc have discount codes too.

    • Thank you. Couldn't find any discount codes for Koinly or any other website.

I'll try the excel path. Just not sure what all info to include.

  • Thanks for the code. I'll try excel first. I only have 75 transaction from last year as I know after updating in Koinly.

Can you tell me what exactly would be columns like for showing it to accountant?

Wouldn't that be better off being answered by your accountant?

        hah. Exactly.

Not financial advice but the general idea is to show your trade dates, calculate your tax payable if applicable with any cgt hold discounts, and then summarise to a final amount.

      • That's right. But accountant wants to go easy way using the website route. I don't usually invest in crypto. Joined few sites to get $10 joining bonuses. Did some investment last year and it came out to be $250 loss in last FY.

So, just trying to save money for these reports as I am already in loss.

Why would you tell the government what you're doing with your super cool spy guy secret money?
