  • People who mow themselves really pay this much for a lawn mower? And is this considered a bargain price? I need a third job to catch up

    • +1

Well no because you also get 4 5Ah Makita batteries that retail for about 150 each, you also get a blower worth $270.

      • -3

oh ok, so people buy a lawn mower to get reduced priced batteries and a blower.

        • +6

Pointing out that people aren’t paying this much for just a mower.
If this suprises you then wait until you see what people pay for a V15 Dyson vacuum

@donkcat: or an iPhone with 2TB storage, I nearly fainted

            • @andresampras: that's not comparable. When purchasing an iPhone, people usually need to spend some more on the accessories. While lawn mowers are considered add-ons when you purchase a garden

        • dan keep an eye out for this one coming up at aldi - you have to buy batteries for it too though

          https://www.aldi.com.au/product/ferrex-2x20v-cordless-lawn-m…

otherwise second hand petrol ones do the job

    • I can sell you an old victa for perhaps $80, if you can mix petrol and oil, and manage a pull start.
How much can you save compared to paying the man to trim your busch?

    • While I use a petrol mower, I think this is one of those things I can justify spending a bit more on.

My last mower lasted 20+ years, and was $1200 new. Was still working when I gave it away as the catcher was broken and I couldn't tape it together anymore and haven't been able to find a comptable one in 5 years of searching the tip shop / online.

My new mower was a bit cheaper but expect to get the same life out of it.

      • My first lawn mower was from kmart, Gardener's choice $189 back in 2011. i bought electric mower last year, so light i could push it with a finger.

    • I used to think exactly the same way. I’d been mowing my 600 m² lawn for nearly 10 years with a $400 petrol mower until I switched to the DeWalt mower. It came with two 8 Ah batteries, plus a bonus 2 5 Ah batteries, line trimmer and also blower, all for $1,289 few months ago, I couldn’t be happier, it’s been the best investment ever.
There’s zero maintenance, no oil changes, no spark plugs, no fuel and the quiet operation means no more disturbing my kids or neighbours. It cuts smoothly, has great power, and being self-propelled makes it feel like I’m just out walking the dogs. 😄

      • I am not complaining about spending the money on a mower, I didn't reply to the post I meant to - more was saying investing in a good mower is very worth it as you will get many years out of it.

If I didn't get a good deal on a Honda Self Propelled I would have gone electric too.

Bought this two weeks ago at the higher price… Anyone successful in getting a partial refund from Bunnings without having to return?

    • +1

I asked twice at two different stores - no, returning is the only option.

    • buy todays deal. use previous receipt to refund

  • +1

I got this same deal a couple weeks ago at the same price but it came with a $150 gift voucher from Took Kit Depot

  • i am not interested in the mower, but the 4 x batteries ~~~

    • +1

These alone probably justify the whole price, it’s like getting the blower and mower for free. Even better if you already have several Makita tools and can make use of the same battery ecosystem.

  • I'm in the market for one of these. Is this Ryobi just going to be underpowered? I'm already in the Ryobi eco-system a tad with their drill

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-3-piece-garden-car…

  • Massive difference. 18v VS 36v, as well as the width of cutting is much smaller for that Ryobi model. It all depends on how much actual grass you have to cut

  • This, or: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-brushless-46cm-lawn-mo…

    I’m not into either ecosystem.

If this Makita, what line trimmer to pair it up with?

For a 200sqm lawn area. Like trimmer mainly to use for edging.
