Trade-in an Old Phone for $1000 off Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold 5G: 256GB $1697, 512GB $1897, 1TB $2247 @ JB Hi-Fi

1380

Decent deal for a brand new fold phone that was released today with no strings attached.

Trade-in your old phone (example Pixel 8 128GB valued @ 305) and get a bonus $1000 off via coupon on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold making the total price = $1392 (2697 - 1000 - 305). Could save more off GST if you're going on an overseas trip in the next 60 days.

Suitable for people (such as myself) who'd rather not jump hoops and just get a discount on the phone.

Edit: Harvey Norman are also doing a similar deal with the trade-in except a $1000 discount on the advertised price i.e. $2699-$1000, so no voucher or giftcard. Thanks @Platia & @HardlyNormal.

Can you combine this with the 99$/month plan for the 1.6k gift card so essentially 2600 off (less whatever you trade in phone is)

    • -3

Yes, would also like to know this

    • +15

Conditions on JB website say that "$1000+trade in" deal cannot be combined with $1600 rebate on signing up for $99 per month plan

    • No, you can't, but I'm sure some people would be lucky enough to combine both

    • +2

Officially no, but if ur lucky enough some rep might do it.

Did something similiar for my s23 ultra.

    • +1

Tried this earlier today, it isn't allowed.

    • How do you get the $1600 gift card?only showing 1k for me.

    • +3

No, but JB offers a separate standalone $1100 gift card for signing up to the 99$/month plan. Unlike the $1600 offer you're not obligated to buy the Pixel, it's just a generic JB gift card. So in theory you would sign up to a plan, get your $1100 gift card, then do the trade-in offer for the additional $1000 voucher off the pixel.

  • +3

Real deal is if you can combine JB mobile $1600 off together with $1000 trade in bonus, making the phone practically around $1k. I know the fine print says you can't stack, but you can always try.

    • +2

For the 512gb it would be 2,897 - 2600 (if someone lucky can stack it)= $297. Is the termination fee $1000?

      • +1

ETC is $958 + $99 first month(could be refunded but unlikely nowadays)

Also if you are not sending your trade in phone, i think there's like $60 admin fee you need to oay

    • +6

Considering the fiasco with the pre-orders on the Pixel 10 Pro's, I think HQ would've made it clear on not combining deals. No harm in trying but definitely expect to get turned down.

      • What happened? I got a pixel 10 pro at launch and didn't manage a fiasco?

        • +1

Few people took advantage of some uninformed employees using the JB gift card along with the voucher, effectively getting the phone for dirt cheap. JB caught on quickly and sent out a notice to all the stores that they aren't allowed to stack them and a lot of people were turned down. So, it's going to be very unlikely for people to stack this time around.

    • +1

Called up a few stores they can only stack the $1100 deal not $1600, one store offered $200 as well as $1100 and $1000.

      • This deal is for $1000. Is there a $1100 deal?

        • There's a $99/month $1600 voucher and $99/month $1100. $1600 is only for the pixel 10 pro I think.

          • @Demarcus cousins: JB site shows $99/month $1600 deal for Pixel 10 Pro Fold. I don't see the same deal for Pixel 10 Pro.

Is $99/month $1100 for Pixel 10 Pro Fold or Pixel 10 Pro?

            • @Think: If you click on "View full terms and conditions" on the $1600 $99/month tile and scroll down it'll be there.

              • @Demarcus cousins: don't know if it's a system error. It's showing $1600 on the product page but $1100 when you click on the link

                • +1

@goocxx: The $1600 is specific to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The link is simply to the page for their mobile plans, to observe their service t&c's. The $1100 isn't phone specific, it's just a straight forward JB voucher.

Easiest way to think about it - if you buy the Pixel 10 Pro Fold they are effectively boosting the existing generic $1100 gift card by an additional $500 to a total $1600.

                  • @midnight20: If cancelling $99/month plan on P10PF, will the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee be $1k or $1.6k?

Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee from CIS is $1k.

                    • +1

                      @Think: It will be $1.6k.
On the P10PF offer page it says "The $1600 off the P10PF…. replaces the dollar value of the voucher in the CIS".

            • +2

@Think: The $1100 deal isn't phone specific. It's simply a deal for signing up to JB mobile on a $99 pm plan. Just go look at JB's "upfront mobile plans". It's not a discount off a phone, it's a gift card you get for signing up to a mobile plan.

You would probably sign up to this first, get a $1100 gift card, then simply do the trade-in with the $1000 offer. That's a total of $2100 + trade in value of your current device (if any).

    • Can confirm. Has worked in the past for me. A new Christmas casual had initiated the transaction and already done half the work before realizing it can't be stacked. Called the manager and they decided to override a couple of things and let me have it. Was a good deal.

    • Sign up to a plan and get the $1600 off the pixel 10 fold.

Go to a different store, return the pixel and they give you the $1600 on a gift card plus the rest however you originally paid.

Trade in the old phone for the $1000 voucher.

Go into a different store, use voucher and gift card.

        Disgusting brain

      • -1

        This works?!

  • +1

Interesting phone and deal, but man, those massive rounded corners on the outer screen just make the phone look stupid. It would be much more functional and aesthetic if it were square like the Z Fold.

    • +1

      258 grams

  • -4

This sounds like those pet food prices when you buy it. You're saving $11,500 on this bag of dog food because you're a VIP PET CLUB member (which is free) and if you weren't a member it would be $11,650, so therefore this pet food is totally 99% off the price it could have been once, in imagination land.

    • +28

      Wth are you on about?

Gee this is great discussion and contribution to the post isn't it 😂

      • I can’t speak to why but what I think he’s saying is something like Anaconda, where there is an RRP without joining their club with a ridiculous price and an actual RRP after you join their club, think bcf do it too.

    • +3

      R U OK?

    • Not a pet owner, but do people really spend that much on pet food a year? Sounds outrageous.

      • That's not a year's worth it goes off

    • Reminded me of the game I play on my mobile; War and Order. Some item packs are forever $462 but now they are $8.99. No one has ever paid $462 and it has never been $462

  • +1

Can you trade in any old phone?

    • +3

Customers who complete a trade-in with a trade-in value of at least $1 will receive an email offer to select from available JB Hi-Fi coupon(s) for a discount on the next purchase of specific product(s)

A lot of older/damaged phones are valued at $0 with this service.

    • No, only the ones listed on their website and that don't give you a value of $0.

  • trade in website down ?

    • Not working for me too

      • +1

yep trade in portal not working for both JB HiFi and Harvey Norman

      My P30 Pro 256GB is 55!

      • Wahwai phone?

      • I'll pay $60

        • Sweet, but I am keeping it myself ;) A good backup phone.

    • Is that tge 5g variant. Texting from one now

    • It's a non flagship. They don't retail value well, especially when they're that old.

      • Mobile Guru not offering you the $1000 off, too, is it?

  • Does anyone know if you are allowed to trade multiple devices?

    • Does anyone know if you are allowed to trade multiple devices?

They did last time I used it. You do one at a time and get a gift card to that value and you can use multiple gift cards to make a payment.

Bonus is that you paid receipt will say that you paid in gift cards, so you get the full GST amount back if you use TRS (less the $1000 discount that you will not get the GST back on). I did that last time I traded a few devices and went overseas.

      • Note the change in wordings used. The $1000 off is now a JB coupon (used to be a gift card)

Best to validate with someone who just purchased this (OP?)

    • "Yes. You can trade-in multiple devices, up to the total combined trade-in offer of $2500."

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/tradein

    • Yes you can stack the trade in credit, but you cant stack the $1000 coupons. I tried with the last Pixel 10 pro.

  • I use Spigen cases for my phones. My phone has cracked with the slim case compared to the Tough Armor. It sucks that Spigen doesn't do the the TA for the fold. If there is a case like this, I would buy the fold.

    • I have a Dbrand fold case for my P9PF, pretty bloody solid and the slimest there is on the market and works.

Would like to trade in that's for sure.

But I have a 512gb version and it's pretty solid for emulation and stuff.

      • I need a tough military grade case that Spigen makes. Thanks for the recommendation. Users here experience the opposite, I'm not sure if you have dropped yours
        https://www.reddit.com/r/PixelFold/comments/16wrq5r/pixel_fo…

Checked, Dbrand case + screen protector $136 AUD. God…

        • I got mine for $65 delivered.

Anyway I have dropped mine a few times, on concrete and I have a chip on the top back spine but yeah not falling apart.

I don't have glass screen protector on mine but it's been pretty tough case.

          • @Kiro: It seems like a common place that gets damage. Where and when did you get it at that price?

            • @PeeDee: Dbrand site itself. About 1 months ago

              • @Kiro: Ah I can see the price. I def need a screen protector

                • @PeeDee: i found that some cases cannot sit flush with a screen protector on UNLESS they are design with that in mind.
i had one case that could clip around the screen frame with the screen protector on but another case gave me a screen protector that was just smaller then the case around it so it wouldnt impact the way the case sits on a pixel 9 pro fold.

                  • @Kiro: Thanks for the heads up. I can see that dbrand made a screen protector for case in mind. So in total $136 lol

                    • @PeeDee: wooshka. as bad as it is for spending that much on a case, i did spend a big sum for a 512gb GP9PF last year, so i have that going for me now.

    Google you've failed again.

I would have jumped on this in a heartbeat if it's the Fold 7.

    • +2

Theres no way they would give out the Fold 7 at this price. Only slow Pixels go low on price.

    • +2

I got my Fold 7 on eduction store preorder with coupon with 1.6k

  • +2

Harvey Norman is running this deal too but they don't specify if it has to be a "phone" that's traded in, just that a "product" has to be.

Makes me curious if you could get $1000 for trading in e.g. an old smartwatch.

    • +3

Our trade in partner is Assurant (not to be confused with Asurion) and yes, if you visit our trade in page you can trade in pretty much anything tech, good for old junk laptops or random stuff)

      • This could be a better deal for some, shall edit the description now. Thanks!

      • You can trade in anything at JB as well but I believe you only get a coupon for a phone. So I'm still not 100% sure if HN is the same.

        • You're right, JB & HN have the same trade-in partner so no difference there then. Might probably be better to give HN a call and ask.

edit: from HN's website, seems like you'd just get a $1000 discount on the advertised price i.e. $2699-$1000, so no voucher or giftcard.

  • +27

Am I the only one still shocked by RRP $3247 for a phone even if its top range?

    • +15

Nothing's top range about this phone.

    • -1

That's $300 cheaper than the RRP for Samsung's version.

      • +1

I for one wouldn't want to touch Google's ones for another few years, it's only what, their third generation fold? The last one didn't exactly have a good reputation either.

But this is a good deal, considering no contract is attached.

        • Each to their own. I was a happy owner of the 9 Pro Fold and absolutely love the new one, which I've now been using for 2 full days. So many quality of life improvements and the software experience is simply the best on the market - and I've used phones from every manufacturer and price range on the market over the years, including a Samsung Z Fold 4 and iPhones.

My only regret is not waiting for this deal, as the pre-order offers from Google were the worst this year and I got the same $1000 trade-in for my 9 Pro Fold.

          • @elektron: I was considering changing to the 9 Pro Fold from my Z Fold 3, but I wasnt too impressed with it after trying it out, im glad I waited and got the Z Fold 7 instead. My only gripe with it is the interior camera not being hidden.

There is just a lot of Samsung only features that I couldn't find an alternative for on the play store, ones probably only I care about, but were very impacted for me, such as being able to play audio from different apps on separate audio devices.

            • +1

@Vinodra: Isn't it great that there's so much choice in Android? I'm glad you're happy with it and I certainly appreciate the form factor. The only Samsung feature I personally miss is DEX (shame on Google for not giving Pixel users a ChromeOS-like desktop experience), but it's no longer an issue since I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra - an amazing device, which has almost fully replaced my personal desktop.

By the way, PixelSnap along is worth it for me, so many possibilities - I've been using it with 4 different accessories. The outer screen size is also noticeably bigger, which I didn't expect.

      • It's a foldable which is a niche market for enthusiasts.
      • It's not top range, that's the tradeoff with foldables.
      • what do we mean by top range here? processor?

        • +1

Probably the cameras - that's what "Pro" stands for. It's the biggest compromise in foldables in general.

    • I still can't believe people pay $2000 for a phone. Still happy with my $711 Pixel 7 from Officeworks price-matching Telstra.

  • +2

far out cost almost par to a gaming laptop

    • +17

almost a par to my car

      • Apple has left the group …

        • It's coming back next year with its own foldable.

      • +1

This or 3 AU falcons from Marketplace?

And? Don't see the point of this comment. There are cheap laptops and expensive laptops. There are cheap phones and expensive phones.
