I bought this for $220 last week… sigh.

Anyway, it seems to work fine. Nothing to compare it to, but the stuff it pulls out of rugs is really gross so it's doing something.

Thanks op, there’s now a ShopBack cashback of spend $100 and get $10 which will bring it down to $120. 👍

Yeah, rub it in some more why don't you. I can always use my identical but more expensive spot cleaner to get it out again :D

      • Sorry, wasn’t rubbing it in…😅 Just wanted to make sure anyone buying one noticed there’s a $10 cashback.

    i recommend the kmart one - https://www.kmart.com.au/product/spot-cleaner-43262465/

have used it on fabric seats, carpets and rugs.

i use it with this liquid https://www.bunnings.com.au/vax-1l-platinum-professional-sol…

    • If you clean the dog, maybe you dont need to clean the carpets/rugs

For just $30 more, I will go with the Shark.

  • Was heading to tgg to grab one today, thanks op!

  • I've been gifted a large DeWalt wet and dry Vac. Assuming I can just use a spray bottle of preferred stain remover and then use the Vac and I'll get the same results as one of these or is there more to them?

    • In theory, you are not wrong. Maybe give it a crack and check the dryness level with your vac. These ones, make them almost dry.

  • Yes you paid too much but… 10/10 post OP!

I sharted all over my girlfriend's favourite pillow. Will this product get the stains out? Need to put it back on her bed before she finds out.

  • Kmart one is great for me. Had it for more than a year now and use it regularly. Cheaper, better, and easy returns.

Alternatively wait for the Bissell one that goes on sale for $99 on Boxing Day at HN every year

  • Has anyone used this, looks like a better deal and has better specs.

  • Good price! I've been using this to clean the dog pee stain & smell on the couch and it works well. The suction is very strong.

  • Bought it 2 days ago and it was $140.

Ergh will lose cashback and $10 bonus from Top cashback.

    • Yeah, they dropped the price to 140 about 3 days after I bought it, then just dropped it again when I checked last night.

    • I bought for 179 a bit over a week ago, I feel your pain

looks like Amazon is price matching Costco - https://www.costco.com.au/c/Shark-StainStriker-Portable-Carp…

  • beyond the machine itself, you will have to get those cleaning solutions to use with the machine?

Are there alternatives to the same brand ones OZB approved?

You can't do better than this one for removing pet stains/smells, the only product I've found that can remove dried tomcat pee from a couch/carpet and not leave it smelling like a teenage girl's bedroom: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bissell-wash-and-remove-pro-o…

We spent hundreds on different products before finding it, used it a bunch of times at double concentration and still have half the bottle left.

      • Thank you sir! I'll give this one a try.

      • This was tempting but I can't imagine how long it would take me to get through it. Appealing thing is that it's not branded from one of the consumer appliance makers

        https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0FC625DHH/

      • Thanks! I will give this a shot and my aim is to clean my upholstered dining chairs.

      • Do you use this along with the general cleaner? Ghe shark comes with oxy and another one.

        • Previously I used a bottle of the regular pet stain version, then added oxyboost from a separate bottle, but this one includes the oxy additive already, so I just use it by itself.

Very economical, small bottle but much more concentrated than the regular stuff. I've used close to 20 full tanks of water since buying it, and still have about half the bottle left. I'm probably putting too much in as well, but it smells nice so I don't really care.

  • Is it ok to use it as a car vacuum as well?

    • I too want to know this ^

    • Since it's designed to vacuum liquid. Debris from the car may damage some internal part.

  • Bought one from Aldi last night for $129 that has a steam function, 1.4L water and 1.2L waste water capacity and 2m hose. Wondering if anyone may have used the Aldi one and has any thoughts how it fares vs the branded ones. I probably would have gone for the Supercheap Auto Bissell if it was on sale (but kind of need it now-ish)

Just picked one of these up today over the Bissell.
Reviews I've read online were that this had better performance and a couple of more useful attachments.

Used it on the half of our couch where our dog with skin allergies likes to camp out, it was literally brown before I started.
It now genuinely looks like it's brand new again.
Super impressed by this thing, everything packs away really nicely and tight too.

Can say the same about the Kmart one

      • I checked a few reviews of the Anko brand one, most of the comparison reviews where people had tried both said the Anko was much less powerful suction, which makes sense since the motor is somewhat less powerful but I think for the cost you can't really complain.

The intended use of these machines makes it pretty good value when you consider these are technically just meant for spot treatment and not upholstery overhaul.

I think he may be talking about this:

          https://www.kmart.com.au/product/multi-purpose-spot-cleaner-…

Which is cheaper, bigger motor, bigger tanks and better suction.

          • @dfghdffb: Ooo yep I was thinking of the $99 model.

If I had seen that I probably would have given it a test just for the ease of returning it locally if it's crap.

I am pretty well pleased with the Shark though.

Next search is just to find treatment products to use in it.
