True. Saying that, if you don't want to fiddle around with USB charging, Philips do make a power adapter that is around $20 - $35 (Part Number:300005868731).
Just make sure you don't charge in the bathroom (steam, water ingress) as most USB adapters are not waterproof. That's the only issue. These shavers last for weeks so is a non issue charging outside the bathroom.
@Mintee if this is within your budget
Thanks…. Aww man. Thats alot… Id be happy to spend it if i knew it wouldnt cut
It's been years since I tried a few electric shavers and had a bad experience… maybe it's almost time to try again. Everyone sounds pretty positive about these.
Wife got me one of these, they are awesome, best shaver I have had. Mine though has a wireless charging pod, I just put it on the charger.
Pass
On clearance at shaver shop for $599
Not an i9000
Old. Reviews go back over 4 years
It’s annoying that Amazon got rid of ‘date first available’ in the specs
Seems to me Amazon uses prime days to get rid of old stock
Last I checked, $599 is higher then $269.55.
Well, no, you can't compare this with an i9000 (which has a USB-A cable with a Philips plug on the other end). This is the older 9000 series and I think some people may be thinking it is a newer i9000 with the USB charging. It is still probably a good price though (compared to other sellers).
I bought a i9000 Prestige with a few attachments etc from Amazon US for $380 on their last Prime Day, and arguably it was possibly a better buy if you wanted the charging stand, trimmers etc.
I don't think there is much difference in the shave quality between 9000 and i9000 - I think the blades and motors are the same, with the only difference being the i9000 has slightly slimmer blade surrounds which allow you to get a bit closer around areas like the nose.
Of course you can compare both, they use the same rotary blades silly. According to the reviews, the newer i9000 series you mentioned has a lot more marketing jargon words (this worked on you) so people 'upgrade and pay more' for the new model but almost all reviews state that the shaving experience is almost identical if not the same as the S9000 series. Some even mention the new 'i9000' model looks and feels cheaper to hold. All the other functions are superfluous marketing terms that no one should use or bother with according to the reviews. This S9000 model at $269 is an excellent deal even though it's the older model especially as it comes with the cleaning pod and travel case.
No, not "silly". I did mention that the blades etc were the same, so well aware. The smaller / slimmer edges on the new shaving heads also make it noticeably easier to get into "edges around the nose & ears. It is not just about the blades used - more to a shaver than just blades - from memory the i9000 Prestige models (like mine may have a slightly more powerful or higher RPM motor compared to the baseline 9000 series.
My 8yo shaver (S9711) was dying and had to be replaced, and getting a i9000 with a USB charging cable (even if Philips missed the opportunity to use a standard USB-C cable) was of benefit because I don't need to carry an extra wall-wart while traveling. So good reasons to go with the i9000, which in my case gave me a number of extra benefits & features (including the charging stand which takes up far less space in my wall mounted shaving cabinet than a shaver lying down - because the shaver stands vertically) for only an extra $110 compared to your deal for a 4yo (at least) shaver with less "extras". The i9000 Prestige came with shaver, travel pouch, USB cable, beard trimmer, nose/ear trimmer, charging stand, and cleaning pod (with refill cartridge), which IMO offered pretty good value for a latest release (in June'25 they were yet to be released in Australia) model with upgraded heads and several extras. Bear in mind that not only is there a difference between the 9000 series and the i9000 series, but there is also a difference between the i9000 series, and the i9000 Prestige model I bought - so 2 steps up.
So no, not silly, and I didn't fall for any marketing jargon - but thanks for suggested that 🤣.
But each to their own …..
@Andy01: It's all in your head bro due to watching too many review videos. At the end of pretty much all of those videos you will see a conclusion that both models shave pretty much the same. No dig, just saying, don't let marketing jargon swoon you to waste your money.
If only all manufacturers are starting to make products with usb c charging….
