Other real contender deals-wise is oncoming ALDI $199 Ferrex Brushless Kit, OzB deal.

Both are brushless, 36V (2x18V), but there are differences:
- Cutting Width: Stanley = 495mm, Aldi = 370mm. Tells me Stanley likely used more powerful motor.
- Steel Deck: Aldi = No

  • which one is better

my guess is 51cm one, bigger, and no store fights for the box in Aldi :)

Agree on the large deck aspect. I own the Ryobi brushless 46cm unit and I recently used my parents Aldi Ferrex brushless mower, while the power was apel I felt the size of the cutting area to be too small.

I'm tempted to upgrade to something larger personally

    • Got the ALDI info last time but since moving house with a larger lawn it takes further and two sets of batteries. I could handle splitting days in charge but the back and forth is annoying

Heavier steel deck gives flat clean appearance. This is cheaper but 51cms seems a bit excess for 2 4AH batteries, but I may be wrong. Here is a video i found, Use auto translation in subtitles. That is some nasty grass before you come to conclusions. It boggs down once and then works fine.

Metal decks on mowers for home users and at this price point is VERY overrated. The rest of the mower will be dead long before the plastic deck has any issues at all and it will likely be far more forgiving to the average user not washing it out after use etc….something that with a battery mower isn't a great idea at the best of times. Plastic weighs less and will be every bit as durable. I've no idea why more makers don't use quality synthetic decks for their mid to upper level models e.g Honda's nexite used on their HRX217

Weight pushes down the mower to the ground and gives a nicer flatter grass cutting. A steel deck electric weighs in between a petrol mower (heavy) and a plastic mower (light). It's the perfect compromise. For tiny shoe box properties sold now with sub 350 sqm land with postage stamp sized front and rear lawn area then a tiny plastic mower is good enough, hell, i would buy a single battery one for those properties.

this looks like a better deal than the aldi and ozito one

    • Adi steel deck Ferrex Pro ones with 2 x 20v 8AH batteries sold a few years ago are a beast. Much better than the Ozito Steel deck ones which my neighbour has. Aldi has not brought a new model out in the past 2 years it seems. I payed $300 on special, 3 years ago. I sharpen the mower blades once per year in Spring with an angle grinder and it does my 650sqm property with a decent sized front and rear lawn in 1 charge. With blunt blades towards the end of the mowing season or neglected tall grass, batteries has to be recharged around the 60% lawn area which is to be expected. For the price of $300, I am not complaining.

  • is there a battery adapter for this to use Ozito batteries?

  • This looks good, I'd use with the side discharge and should handle tougher stuff.

Shame category is garden (not tools) as would get 5% extra cashback

  • I just returned my aldi one as there was a issue of battery connection with the mover after 2.5 years of use. I was very happy with that lawn mover and deciding to buy another one in a few weeks. But now this one has caught my eye.
