Zoom2u will get your letter from A to B as fast as possible but its not cheap as its courier-based. We have used them for transporting stuff interstate in less than 12 hours.
Carrier pigeon, fax, send an email or simply deliver it yourself.

Word of warning, if using carrier pigeons, be sure to alert the recipient so they can have their windows open in time.
They get pretty salty when they splat fly into closed windows and might retaliate by crapping on the letter you want them to deliver.

For "one off" same day and short distance it means not having to go to the Post Office for a Express Post Envelope.
I was shocked AusPost wanted about $10 for an A5 that might/might not be next day.

Try Sendle. I haven't used them for a year, but anyone is better than snailmail
Some people have horror stories and lots of hate for Sendle, but I've used them for a bunch of years and they are typically cheaper and definitely easier since they will pick up from my house. Conveniently, even the drop off centre is only a few kms from my house if I don't want to leave something more valuable sitting out waiting and even that it pretty easy to rock up with a pre-booked package and walk straight back out.
The use case makes a massive difference here to the economics.
Thanks for the tips. I should have clarified by saying that this particular retreat offers:
- digital detox is for 8 weeks which means no access to any tech
- staff can drop off express post envelopes to the post office
- only form of non emergency comms with family and friends during this timeI suppose we could test normal post to see how fast.

Any courier will handle letters/documents. No guarantee they'll be as cheap or faster.
