Just bought 500g Lavazza packs at Coles for $10ea during their offer this week.

I would recommend to try any coffee with known date of roast. The smell and taste of freshly roasted coffee (up to 3 weeks) are incredible. Especially the smell. Coffee from the shelf have a little to no chance to have the same aroma.

Amen to that. I thought I knew what real coffee was, until I looked further than coffee that would "give me a hit," which is what most people do.

  • Hi Rep, is the V60 a 2 cup or 1 cup pourover?

    • Hi, this is a 1 cup however for $2 more I can give you a 2 cup ;-)

      • At this rate I'm going to have way more beans than I can drink. Haven't even picked up the first order, so let me try the coffees I got and I'll get back to you. (I do need a proper burr grinder though… lol…)

  • Is filter coffee comparable in taste to latte made with an espresso machine (like from a cafe)?

I just tried out my filter coffee machine I bought from aldi, and I tried it with a bag of pre-grinded coffee beans and it just didn't have that kick. it tastes like the average black coffee you would get at a hotel or function.

Bear in mind, the bag was 'best before 2007', but it was unopened. I know you can't compare it because it's so old.

But can I achieve the taste and strength of a latte from an espresso machine from filtered coffee? Does it just come down to the freshness and quality of the bean?

If so - I will buy some fresh coffee beans to grind myself and give it a shot on my machine.

    Any tips?

Coffee as a general rule is at it's freshest for about only 2-3 weeks after roasting. This is when the true flavour and characteristics are prominent within the beans. After this they will decline which is why supermarket coffees etc are stale by the time you receive them and just roasted dark to disguise the lack of flavour and characteristics. For this reason I believe that there is a huge difference between fresh roasted and other coffee which is why we were so passionate to start Manna Beans. Over time as I have experienced more and more different types of coffee bean and roast profile, The flavours and experience have been so diverse that it has only increased my passion and enjoyment further. If you haven't experienced fresh coffee before then I would highly recommend it. If you just want coffee without the filter and papers then link is

      • thanks for the answer, i'll have a look and see.

  • what other equipment would you need to make use of this deal?

    • No other equipment needed. This is a coffee brewer and coffee. If you don't have a grinder then there is an option for us to grind the coffee for you or an option to buy a Hario hand grinder at a discounted rate. If you already have a grinder then we will send whole beans for you

  • What brand and model of grinder would you guys recommend for a stove-top coffee maker? cheers…

    • There are such a huge range of grinders out there but if your looking for a simple and decent hand grinder then we offer an option to add a Hario Skerton Ceramic Burr grinder for $49.95 with this deal. These are made in Japan and there are more details on our deal page.

  • A question for you rep. I have noticed some pretty good deals posted by you of late. Is it possible to vary the blends available in your offers or are they set combinations only?

    Incidentally, please check your messages.

    • +1

Only set combos with these Ozbargains deals but there are a lot of other coffees available for sale through our website. If you send me a request to vary one of these blends on the Ozbargains deal I can try my best for you but can't guarantee it

      • Thanks for that.
