McDonald's Monopoly - Anyone Been or Know Winners?

Hey All,

I'm just curious, does anyone actually know people who have won things? Or have you yourself won stuff?

I feel I have only ever heard about free food wins, I must just be in an unlucky circle…

Said I'd go on a date if she could get me a bag of the hot fudge topping and boy did she deliver. Better than any of the other prizes I'm likely to win in monopoly.

    • -1

Worst of all I didn't go on the date. I'm a horrible person x2 now.

I must just be in an unlucky circle…

lol, there are 1000 stores in australia. The company claims that they have close to 2 million customers per DAY. The event goes for approx 50 days.

    The prizes are listed here

There are 39,000,000 food prizes (both app and physcal), and 19,000,000 non food prizes. these range from bullshit, to the major prize of 1 of 2 cars. So 58,000,000 "prizes".

the company claims 1 in 3 is a win. On that basis we can assume that they sell 174,000,000 tickets.

So your odds of winning a car is 1:87,000,000

Granted, at the end of the promotional period, you might have 20 tickets. That reduces your odds (of winning the car) to 1:8,700,000

There are 27 prizes worth $4,000 or greater. This means you chances of winning one of those is 1 in 6,444,444.

If you ate there and got 20 tickets, your odds of winning a "major"* prize are still 1 in 322,222.

Now you might say "oh, but that's great odds". Well actually …..

WA lottery releases their odds of winning Saturday lotto. 1 in 8,145,060. So You have a better chance winning div 1 Saturday lotto than you do winning the car (which you may not even want)

    • Nice.

Nice, love it when maths is involved.

      • Ty, A few assumptions made.

The main issue is the "benefit" of a physical prize and their claim of over $500,000,000 in prizes. A $10 voucher for a shop I don't frequent is completely useless - I consider it advertising. (Ticketmaster $10)

Even a "major" prize of "free parking" or free rental car for a year are kind of useless for me.

The food prize value is hyper inflated. $3.70 for a small fries, $8 for a McChicken.

Not saying it's a fraud, I just don't see the perceived value in participating.

While can't comment on Macca's comp specifically …

Some years ago (2016'ish) … Won a $50,000 car with only 6 entries (NOT Macca's - but a different nationwide comp).

Ever since then have been entering every single comp I can find.

Even ate subway for breakfast/lunch/dinner - 30 days straight (to enter their comp).

Afew minor wins … With general comps … here/there (but nothing compares to the car I won).

Back to Macca's … Have passed on their comp.
Not for me - but if already eat there … Why not.

[EDIT] : end of day == luck of draw.

A few weeks back, I won a $10 visa gift card… Thanks for reminding me to use it.

  • Only done a couple of visits this year and have got 5 free food vouchers and have got 2 free experiences (bowling/time zone etc) and a $100 webjet voucher.

But have never gotten all of the properties for a certain prize and years ago we had a shit load of tokens.

Never heard of anyone winning a prize.

  • the Timezone pass was actually decent this year, redeem it for 30 minutes of free play. Great way to keep the kids entertained over school holidays

    • Agreed- we prefer the timed pass at iPlay for the little ones if we're paying but we redeemed 3 or 4 of the free Timezone passes these school holidays. When they're this young they don't care about not getting tickets.

    • we have chose those 30 min timezone games pass for about the last 3 years at least

30 (32?) years ago I won a Sega Mega Drive 2 in the 2nd chance draw. Nothing of any significance since.

    • Do you still have it?

      • +1

Yes, haven’t tried to use it in a long time now but yes

  • Yes multiple event passes, subscriptions, food, drinks, selling winning tickets as well as unpeeled tickets was a huge thing on ebay (not sure if they still do it today because its all in the app) people were selling final tickets for about 60-80% of the winning items value example was the holiday package.

  • i won something from the prize list this year - $10 JB gift card

  • $10 visa debit card
    $10 goupon vouchers

Friend Won a car via instant win
Was 2021, there was 2 cars to be one a CRV and another car that was a. Bit cheaper

A few of the boys went to maccas for lunch, one of them was next in line but still deciding so he let one of the guys go first. That guy ended up ordering and instantly peeled and won the CRV.

He ended up picking it up a beacons hill maccas, did the whole photo shoot and all.
Kept it for a few weeks was worth about 40k from memory and he sold it. Put 20k in the bank and spent 20k on a vs calis.

Best part was he was 17 at the time and his choice to sell ot and bank half set him up pretty good for the next few years. Was one of those good guys too
