Fish tanks of this size is not really appropriate apart from a betta or snails. And no, 6 months minimal maintenance is bullshit if you have any fish. Should change tank water every 2 weeks. At the minimal every month (for larger tanks, not one of this size). Also when first starting the aquarium, make sure to test the water quality regularly.

maybe not 6 but 1 is fine, if you have plenty of live plants inside

  • Id purely make this a shrimp tank and nothing else.

  • I think 30L version exists , that would be better options for fish

  • Bought the vertical one, good tank and great for shrimp. Just need to put a net on the water intake to prevent any shrimp from getting stuck.

  • Any recommendations for a 30-40l tank for a 7 year old with low maintenance. Just looking to get into the hobby

You need a much bigger tank for a 7yo

      • Unless your 7yo is asian like me :3

I personally have the Fluval Flex 34L for guppies. It’s a great little setup with hidden filter and pump - gladly recommend it. However, if you subtract the volume of the filter media and pump, etc it’s not really big enough for most types of fish except small tropical. Bigger tanks are more forgiving and the 57L size of the same model isn’t physically much bigger. In hindsight, I’d have bought that one. Go for an even bigger tank if you can afford the space. I’d suggest you fill all the spare filter space with filter media (like Seachem Matrix) to maximise the filtration capability of small tanks like these.

P/s keep in mind that aquariums are heavy. At least 1kg/L of capacity, taking into account gravel, the glass itself, etc

  • is this au plug?

  • Is it worth to buy a ADA fish tank? The size is W60xD45xH36cm.

I like the idea of a ‘smart’ tank but agree with the comments above, it’s too small to actually keep fish healthy. If they made a 40L+ version, it might be worth considering.

  • Has been <$100+gst and free shipping on Aliexpress fairly regularly.

  • Bummer! My fish are dumb.
